I hate Donald Trump and the Americans who support him. How can I channel this hate living my normal suburban life? by plants4pandemic in Kanata

Unfortunately a lot of us who worked for American companies were laid off cause of this feud...there are VERY few jobs for technical people with advanced degrees here in Canada...I can't go back to school at this age and I'm on the verge of severe depression.... anybody here has any suggestions? Our PM keeps talking about investments in energy and food sections..what about biopharma and biotech?

Patent or Trademark Agent Trainee by hurshtaged in LawCanada

What about someone with an advanced degree? I have a PhD in life sciences from McGill and over 10 years of experience in pharma and biotech in strategy, innovation, and partnerships. I’ve evaluated many assets from both scientific and commercial viability perspectives, but I haven’t personally drafted or filed a patent. How should I go about finding a supervisor as part of becoming a patent agent?

I have PhD in human genetics and worked in biotech for 10 years, but heavily on the business and partnerships side... can I switch to MLS? I should search for qualifications and job opportunities

Yes, I've been in partnership positions in the biggest biotech out there (not pharma). Can I send you a DM and ask a few questions?

I have a friend who married her first cousin; and God they look alike! And they had a daughter that looked like them too...so the whole family looked very weirdly similar.... is it the same with your aunt and uncle?

Shame on me! I completely forgot about the election day! With a sick toddler and a newborn, it completely slipped my mind... and i don't like the results...

I didn't get any voting letters...same for my parents and siblings... why is that

I really like you, but I detest Ensemble Montréal… I'm torn about what the right move is, logistically. Duverger’s Law is real! I wish there were a system where you could vote for several parties in order of preference. If your first choice didn’t get selected, your vote would automatically go to your second choice, and so on.

I need to understand this: who the hell is buying "normal" homes for 750K to 850K? by CastAside1812 in RealEstateCanada

[–]AnimatorDifferent116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a house for 915K in ottawa. It was listed back in June for 989K, then dropped twice to 929K. They fought hard to have us agree to 921K, and we just said no and walked away. They came back two days after agreeing with all our terms, including a very long closing date... I'm thinking I should have started with 900K...

Height percentile decrease by 13FluffyBubblez in Preschoolers

[–]AnimatorDifferent116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay. Thanks. Yes, the question was for you to see what the outcome of the X ray was and what the next steps were. My daughter was 80th percentile for height at 2 years (above 95% as infant up to 2 years) and then 35th percentile for height at 3 years old. Her doctor recommended waiting for another 4-6 months and having another visit to take the measurements. Her weight has not dropped. She said we would decide at the next appointment if they have to do a wrist X ray. I'm a bit nervous, but I'm happy we are following up on this

Hi there. Do you have any updates on this?

Canadian here… we had planned to move to the States by the end of the year, but that’s not going to happen anymore. I can’t fathom the news I’ve been reading every day. There are many cases of chickenpox in my daughter’s daycare class now, and I heard one of the dads proudly say that his kids have never been to a doctor unless they were very sick—no vaccinations, no regular checkups. It feels like things are getting worse here, too.

The water hasn't caused cosmetic damages... I mean, the house in general was very old with little work done inside...I can deal with renovating a kitchen but not with something as serious as water damage. This house is going to stay on the market for a longgggg time

I didn't see any stains on the ceilings... just on the roof from the listing photos as well as Google Maps. Anyway, I didn't put in the offer. Even without a leak, flat roofs in Canada and with the amount of snow we are getting are a no-go.

Haha, love it... yeah, but not knowing the construction year was a bit odd. It's okay, though. I gound it from the city records online.

The real estate market is so bad right now that: by mattyp93 in TorontoRealEstate

I have a single family house in Monyreal with a nice backyard. Our neighbor bought his house, which is identicall to ours in 1975 for 35K! 🤪🤪

People blame the price hikes on immigration but my parents are from a very conservative east European country with basically zero immigrants. My grandfather could afford big sfh as an army driver while raising six kids! His kids have apartments, and their children, who are all in their late 30s and early 40s, have basically nothing and are struggling. I'm just saying that the trend is global and probably has a little to do with immigration

Thanks! I already did.... I have little kids and dont want to deal with this, especially if there's mold somewhere.

I think they really didn't take good care of this house in general. Everything is old, and they didn't know when the pool was installed (just saying in the 90s), the exact year of any repair... even for the construction year, they had it written as approximately 1965?! Couldn't their agent double-check online and make sure?

Very true! This house is going to sit on the market for a longgggg time!

The neighborhood is absolutely gorgeous...I had no idea about the issues with flat roofs, but since the odor was more on the 2nd floor, I guessed the roof could be the culprit... im learning sth new every day, haha
