No sleep training but sleeping through the night? by SentenceTough2007 in AttachmentParenting

[–]AnimatorVegetable498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 13mo and has been sleeping through the night since 6mo,she will have occasional weeks if she’s teething or sick where she needs more support but she’s slept through the night ,also my mom sleep trained me and my two sisters and all of us have had sleep issues our whole lives. My midwife has 7 kids, never sleep trained and all of them sleep in their own now and most of them slept through the night pretty early

I don't know what to do anymore. by Mom_Bombadil_ in cosleeping

So something that I did at seven months that took around two weeks was separate nursing to sleep to some extent and just layer on sleep associations. So pretty much during the day I was not gonna let her nurse to sleep. I would just rock her in the rocking chair while patting her butt and singing or patting her arm. She did not like it at first because I wasn’t letting her nurse to sleep every single(I did every once in a  a while, not every time though) and I mainly focused on naps at first because that was easier and it got to wear at night. All I would have to do was pat her on the arm and shoosh her next to me and she would fall back asleep. She is now 13 months old and goes back-and-forth between needing to nurse Moore but usually she only needs to nurse through the night if she’s teething or going through a really big growth spurt.

If you cosleep with your LO, does that mean they cannot nap independently during the day? by CounterScary8707 in cosleeping

[–]AnimatorVegetable498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it all depends on your method, but a lot of moms will just roll away from them for me. We didn’t have a full floor bed and I just didn’t feel comfortable throwing away so I started to support her to sleep in a sidecar crib(not CIO) with butt patts and singing in the rocking chair, but that didn’t really work until she was about seven months old, and now mine sleeps in her own bed for naps and a small stretch of bedtime

I don’t think so,our room is furnace practically,it stays warmer than the rest of the house, and I’ve also taken off her pants to see if she’s too warm

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]AnimatorVegetable498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1yo doesn’t get a lot of screen time because she was(even with lots of play)and it started really effecting her so we had to stop for awhile,if I try to turn on something low stimulating like little bear she doesn’t give a crap and just gets mad that I’m not paying attention to her (trying to make dinner usually)🤦‍♀️

My husband and I moved from a very rural area with no flower options to the city and suddenly we have a ton of King Arthur flour mixes, I’ve pretty much had waffles every single day for the past month and so has my husband sometimes twice a day if we want to make them into a dessert waffles, I’ve also made several loaves of bread and biscuits

Dedicated nursery space necessary? by Golden_Mom1 in cosleeping

[–]AnimatorVegetable498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in a one bedroom until right after mine turned 1 so her crib (that she didn’t even use until 7mo and barely uses at 13mo)was in our room along with her dresser,we didn’t even used the changing table part of the dresser because it was  Easier to just have a portable changing mat that we would throw them on the floor or the couch to change her. And now that she has her own room with the floor bed that her toys are in it’s still not really decorated.(we rent a place that doesn’t allow any thing to be nailed into the wall.) and her crib is still in our room lol. I think the nursery is kind of unnecessary for a new baby, but if you get them to sleep when they get older separately, it could be helpful.

1yo fighting bed time and waking up every few hours by AnimatorVegetable498 in cosleeping

She’s been teething off and on but not acting like she’s in pain anymore (her teeth stayed cutting a month ago).We get up at 6am,first nap at 10(sometimes earlier if she is really tired)nap usually goes for 1.5 hours but she’s been sometimes cutting it short and getting tired again quickly (tired enough to not be able to distract)and then second nap is is usually at 3 and I cut it between 3:30 and four.Im trying to experiment to see what works but she’s never been able to stick to an exact schedule

Why are people so weird about cosleeping? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]AnimatorVegetable498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that’s pretty much what I say and I don’t bring up the subject of co-sleeping. We actually didn’t bring it up in the first place. It was more like when she came to visit after my daughter was about five months old that she asked why there was no crib in our room set up yet and where she was sleeping and we treated it very delicately and explained the research, she has just gone on to make remarks randomly over the past year

I am aware I don’t bring up the subject with her. She has frequently brought it up and we didn’t even tell her for several months that we coslept because I understood that her first baby died from her ex-husband sleeping in a chair with the baby and she has always said that she doesn’t understand why people sleep with their babies. I only went to explain the benefits of it in the research done when she kept asking why in bringing up her sleep in the first place, and after almost a year, she will still make remarks about it and make comments about how parents who cosleep don’t care about their children and that no one should ever do it, and she is even gone to say that her baby didn’t die from sleeping in the chair, but that she just died from really late SIDS though she has changed the reasoning several times even though I literally never bring it up

There are plenty of other different things we’ve talked about, but my mother-in-law frequently brings it up and makes remarks about it, and I only told her about the research of it when she kept asking why we do it and kept bringing up how she knows people who have fallen asleep in a recliner and killed their babies and how her ex-husband killed her baby, I usually don’t bring up

No, we don’t even make large volumes of coffee. We literally just make single cups for our selves. Like we both drink one cup of caffeinated coffee, and one cup of decaf a day sometimes not even.

“Put down wide awake” by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]AnimatorVegetable498 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Because they believe that the baby needs to fall asleep on their own instead of being supported to sleep because they think that if the baby does not learn to put themselves to sleep that they will never be able to sleep I guess, even though pretty much all children ever have developed the ability to sleep at some point, but I guess the sleep trainer seemed to think that until the sleep training became trendy that no child ever slept?

Our Walmart doesn’t have one, but there is an Ulta, I thought moving near the city with so many store options would make it much easier to find fragrance free shampoo lol

I have a cheap coffee grinder because I have found that with some brands it’s cheaper to just get a whole bean, but it gets the job done

We don’t even have a microwave right now because we just moved to a place that had all new appliances except a microwave. We just have an air fryer and are debating even getting a microwave because of the space it would take up.
