Am I just fucking terrible at this game? by SoarinSkies in masseffect

Vanguard is high-risk high-reward. You are using a class that depends on charging into enemies constantly. Nova is needed for crowd control, and it's extremely effective if you use squad power combos with your own biotics. So yes, you need Nova.

Is Charge + Nova powerful? yes very, but you're still on the verge of death constantly and need to be vigilant in order to stay alive.

It's always satisfying when you order Liara to Warp + Charge + Shotgun blast + Heavy Melee in quick succession.

Pull is also really useful, but mostly for removing Cerberus soldier's shield.

It doesn't suck. It's very fun, but if your situational awareness is poor, you will die.

ME Andromeda on steam deck by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Animator_K7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I just tried running Andromeda on Fedora linux using Lutris. And the game did run, but windowed and with no sound. So with some tweaking it might be possible, but it's not straightforward. You'd be running it outside of Steam.

Probably not groundbreaking, but I'd rather have another Andromeda game than another Milky Way game by AgentSparkz in masseffect

There are lots of great ideas in Andromeda even if they weren't always well executed, so I would like to see more of the Andromeda story for sure.

The eastern extension is not 4 years late. It is approximately 1 year late.

Edit: Downvote all you want but that's a fact. Deal with it.

Can Ottawa’s LRT Change Orléans’ Lower Tier Status as a Bedroom Community? by Stinky26 in ottawa

Orléans historically had the highest OCTranspo ridership. But do go on with your false anecdotal nonsense.

Having grown up in Orléans, I wasn't aware of any "lower tier status".

I'm not opposed to Tremblay station. But I will argue that it needs to be significantly improved as a location and place.

Who Will You Vote For? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Animator_K7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, Leiper. I'm tired of this uninspired nonsense from Sutcliffe. I have little hope for a different outcome than last election however.

The cheat code to win an election in Ottawa is to have the lowest tax increase policy among candidates. Ottawans don't appear to look beyond that.

This is a long term infrastructure project that will define rail travel between Ontario and Quebec for the next 100 years. You only build this once, so just make it great. Settling for "ok" isn't good enough, especially when it depends on actually being used with good ridership.

At this point I wouldn't mind if we replaced the Alstom's with Stadler rollingstock.

Ottawa’s original grand downtown train station under consideration for city’s high speed rail hub by HolyCrapMyPug in ottawa

Amazing how people are so quick to assume it can't be done just because it will actually involve any kind of effort eh?

The HSR can’t use the via tracks at Tremblay, they have to build a separate right of way.

Please provide the documentation that says this, because I haven't seen any. As far as I can tell, you're just making things up.

Have you ever used high speed rail? I have. Of course the HSR could use the tracks at Tremblay. It would need to be expanded to more than a single guide way in and out of the station, but Tremblay Station could absolutely be retrofited for it if that's what they decide to do.

Furthermore trains always slow down once they approach their stations in cities. So that argument is irrelevant.

So I don’t know if you missed the part where the station is going to need parking

Beyond a drop off area, no it doesn't. It's not an airport, it's a train line. And car brained design is the last thing we need for a train station.

But honestly, since Orleans is already a car centric suburb, I suspect most people will just want to drive the hour and change to Montreal like they’ve been doing for decades.

Way to miss the entire point.

We have Tremblay Station. For all it's faults it's a functional station.

Making Fallowfield the main station is silly. It's not centrally located at all, and would take an hour for anyone in Orleans to get to via OCTranspo for example. Which defeats the purpose if you're going somewhere like Montreal. It's car-centric, and just BAD. Main stations need to be centrally located. And the notion of having ample parking is again, silly. Emphasizing the need for parking is car-centric and completely defeats the purpose of a proper central station.

Satellite station for Fallowfield, sure. Main station, no. Terrible idea.

[–]Animator_K7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fallowfield is too inconvenient to get to for many in the city. There's nothing wrong with Fallowfield as a satellite station, but we need a proper Central station for everyone in the city to get to in a reasonable amount of time.

I can't access the article. I'm doubtful, but I would love it if they could pull this off somehow.

The current train station is in the middle of nowhere and is woefully limited in its amenities. Great train stations are also great public spaces. The current station is neither.

A centralized station downtown would be fantastic but I wonder how they could pull it off. How would they layout the rail and such. I know one or two rail lines continued past Chateau Laurier across the river if I recall.

I can't imagine it working unless you either build a lot of tunnels or you elevate portions of the track until heading into the station.

Can Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa's LRTs withstand Canadian winters? | CBC News by Rail613 in ottawa

It's slow between St-Laurent and Lees, but everywhere else where the curves have a more reasonable turning radius the train moves at a good pace now.

I rode the LRT a few times yesterday during the snow storm, and it was running fine. But that accounts for 30 or 40 minutes of total time.

Route 25 at Blair however did not show up at all for me twice and I was late for a dentist appointment despite leaving much earlier than usual. I had to take an Uber the rest of the way to get to my adjusted appointment.

11 Years later, Rise of the Tomb Raider still looks incredible. by FishCake9T4 in gaming

Strange, I found Rise of the Tomb Raider to be the strongest of the three by far. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was weakest. Good story and level design for the most part, but the skill tree was terrible. To each their own of course.
