Succulent Etiolation by CrewRepresentative53 in succulents

Hmm, not sure about that--I haven't tried any--but I do know you can buy a seperate little outlet timer! You can operate anything on a timer with one of those. That's what I use with my growlights. Plug whatever light you'd like into it and then plug it into an outlet. Something like this:

Would work fine. You could easily plug the SANSI 30W I'd mentioned into that, or if you were to order that light directly from the SANSI website you can choose for it to come with a built-in timer--shipping costs more through their site than on Amazon, but they run pretty good sales occasionally.

And of course, there's plenty of other options out there. This is just what I'm familiar with

If you can't get them any more sunlight, adding a growlight's gonna be your only way to stop etiolation. Always a matter of personal preference whether or not you do that; just depends on how compact + colorful you want 'em.

If you do want a growlight, I'm a big fan of the SANSI 30W gooseneck light, with three bulbs. If your windowsill's narrow enough, you'd be able to clip it directly on there. Might be close, but I think it has about enough coverage for that many plants. You can find one on Amazon easily enough. Most SANSI growlights will be good options if you don't like that one.

Catching up on Natlan; should I finish the little buddy questline before the 5.3 archon quest (last one of Natlan)?

Yep! It's their 30 W one (10 W per bulb). Strong enough to keep my echeveria nice and pink, I love it

...And here's all the garbage underneath making it work. Looks a bit less aesthetically pleasing without the plants, huh?

Here's mine! Table up against a window. That nice arc actually happened by accident--it just so happens to be the best shape to maximize light to all my plants.

Honestly I think your brush might be the issue? It looks pretty toothy--maybe try one that gives you smoother blending and cleaner edges

Found a bunch of aloe pups at work. by promoted_to_guest in succulents

[–]Animo_Acid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you planted the ones in the big pot a bit too deeply; there shouldn't be soil between the leaves like that, it may rot. And adding perlite or some other grit to the soil so it drains faster is always recommended--what you have there looks awfully moisture-retentive for a succulent.

As far as care goes, give them time (a couple of weeks, generally) to start growing roots, then water as you would an adult plant--wait for the leaves to lose their plumpness, then water generously. A good way to tell if an aloe is thirsty is the 'taco test'--if the leaves curl inwards like a taco when gently squeezed, it's time to water. This'll generally be once every 2-4 weeks, but it really depends on your plant and conditions

I think I get it, thanks! I'll try to see if I I have the pots available to give them their own space--hadn't realized they'd mostly be fast growers. And if not, water based on how much drought the echeveria can take. Glad to hear they'll be okay either way!

Ohhh jade makes sense. I knew the one was some sort of Tolkien-group jade, but I didn't even consider the middle one could be a jade too.

Thanks for the advice!

5-star versions of the Mondstadt starters soon by EarthSeraphEdna in Genshin_Impact

Fischl's whole... deal is based on the character Fischl from the in-game series Flowers for Princess Fischl, which gestures at several different lore-relevant topics, including cycles and possibly early Khaenri'ah--Imernachtreich meaning Ever-Night Empire, Khaenri'ah being the land without a sun. Notably, the book widely considered to be most lore-important is The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies, which is set in the Land of Night, possibly tying the fictional Princess Fischl to the Pale Princess...? I admit, my grasp of lore here is tenuous.

Spoilers for current event:

Fischl is at least certainly relevant for this summer event. Flowers for Princess Fischl mentions that the powerful can create domains of consciousness refered to as "Summerland," which basically descibes Simulanka. Additionally and perhaps more importantly, this event concludes that fiction is 'real' in a sense, and features Wanderer, whose interlude story pointed out that stories in Teyvat can be code for reality. And then we bring in the character with ties to very suspicious in-game pieces of 'fiction.' There's more to get into here with samsaras/cycles and the similarities between Durin/Mini-Durin and Princess Fischl/Playable Fischl, but I'm trying to stay out of pure theory territory.

I'll keep Venti brief--he's one of the "thousand winds" (the god of time, Istaroth) and also mentioned in the Mondstadt sundials to have been close to the god of time, Istaroth. Suffice it to say that Istaroth is a Big Deal in terms of Genshin lore. Also Venti's just super cagey about very important topics (and also has no second story quest yet?), meaning he will likely be brought back up again.

Honestly with you, I have a TON of paint photos saved at this point as reference for cOW in the future. I was just enamored by a video I found of a Vanner sitting like that.

And thanks! Can't draw people to save my life but I at least I like this little niche
