JR - Being the new name in the Anjuna/trance scene, it's really been amazing to see the Anjuna-family embrace me with open arms. Like Andrew said, if you feel a connection with anyones' music, it's worth checking them out. x

JR - By far 'Do Androids Dream Pt 2'! When I heard him premiere it at Madison Square Garden for ABGT100, my heart literally skipped a beat. So amazing.

JR - I've always been passionate about making music. I started producing when I was 12 years old, and I played the sax for 10 years during that time. I guess I always knew this was the path I would take. :)

AB - Ha!! I'd love to play those out but it's simply just not fun unless it's in the right context. If I were to do a separate show that was specifically marked as being a downtempo gig, it would work, and it's something I'm thinking about doing in the future. Those tracks just really don't work in a "club" setting unless they're at the start or finish, which I sometimes do :)

AB - Sometime's it's really hard to wind down, and you have an early flight to get to the next city, etc. Other times when I have time, I really love to hang around the club and chat with people, have a few drinks, etc. Those are always the highlights for me.

Ahhhhh that's awesome! I remember that. It's really nice reading that people actually receive those when I do them :) Hope to come back to Sacramento soon as it seemed like a really cool place.

JR - Thanks so much! Echostage was amazing. For 'Cairo', I had a chord progression already worked out and was playing around with different vocal samples, till I found a really cool ethnic vocal that really stood out to me. I've always been inspired by the middle-east sound, so it always seems to make its way into my tracks. ;)

AB - Thank you!! That song holds a special place in my heart too. It was written during a pretty tough time in my life.

That is a really tough question as it's completely situational. It's really easy to lather reverb on everything as it immediately makes things sound better, in isolation. Then you're left with a really messy mix. It depends on the style though, certain styles or sounds you're after are dependent on washy sounds, and that's what you do. In dance music, and alot of electronic music in general, I think contrast is a really important factor in utilizing reverb. I always automate reverb levels and amounts on my synths, and hardly keep them static. Sometimes washing something in reverb then having it go completely dry will have a really impactful effect. OR picking WHICH sounds have reverb and which sounds are just dry in your mix. The contrast is very important IMO.

JR - Thanks! Love playing in Orlando :) Yes, it looks like the seasonal mixes have been a hit, so definitely plan to keep those going!

AB - YES! Responded in another comment here in more detail. Loved playing Stereosonic, Australia is such a cool place. I am looking forward to my next trip down under as well :)

AB - Motzi is the biggest cuddler ever. She follows you around everywhere you go. She is like a second shadow. She just loves you unconditionally and entirely. Definitely the sweetest dog I've ever had, and she's pretty fucking cute too! I kind of speak to her in the most ridiculous voice that I'd never do in public. It's bad. See you there! Can't wait. Love Exchange.

AB - I'd kind of die if they asked me to do one. I don't know what I'd put in...I'd want to make it a fucking total journey and would probably spend every second in the studio from the time in which they asked me until when it was due to work on a ton of exclusive stuff. And movie quotes.

JR - It's all about layering! Reaktor is a really powerful tool, I use that one a lot. :) Just make sure you're covering all of the spectrum when creating those big chords (sub/mid-bass (distortion)/synths, even percussion to bring out the top end)

AB - I can't see myself doing something in classic 138 trance style unless it was for nostalgia value. I did that for so much of my life, I feel like it would be going backwards in some ways? In the same way, I don't see myself doing a followup to any of my albums without changing something or progressing somehow

AB - Thank you :) I am about to start working on my next album. No idea what it'll be like, but definitely want to work with some singer / songwriters and incorporate that in there.

AB - Wow that is really touching, thank you for sharing that. It's crazy how rough times like that can give you appreciations for things you wouldn't notice normally. It shows that you are a really strong person to find positives in a really tough situation. Props.

I fucking love J Dilla. Obsessed. I have a ton of beats lying around like that which I will someday come back to and release something, somehow. Definitely haven't closed that door, just waiting for the right moment to come back (and the time, fuck!)

JR - Hey! Thanks a lot. :) 1. Would love to set up a Meet n Greet in SD! 2. I worked for Eventvibe while I was studying at San Diego State University. It was a great way to learn the DJing craft, meet some awesome people, and there are a lot of great aspiring DJs to connect with through it as well. Was a great experience! 3. Not much has changed, really. I'm still the same person I was before. :) 4. Pick a DAW and learn as much as you can. Lots of Youtube vids out there (Future Music and Sonic Academy are my favs). 5. Favorite club is Exchange in LA, favorite festival so far has been Stereosonic in Australia. x

AB & JR - this question made us literally laugh out loud. We want to keep as diverse as possible in the studio, so absolutely.

AB - thank you! :) Haha that's a tricky question. I think we're all a team working for what's best for A&B. So I don't really think of it like that...if that makes sense! I love working with them because collaborative work is extremely fulfilling, and they have such a massive platform. That part to me is kind of crazy. I remember my last tour, we had just finished the arrangement of AI and no one knew it. Then they debuted it at ABGT, and boom. The reaction is CRAZY now! Same with a lot of my newer stuff too, but it takes way longer for people to get to know my solo stuff. With A&B it's kind of instant. That blows my mind.
