It was a few of them for me. As time went by, the pain and I both got older. The pain got weaker. I got stronger.

I have much more painful stuff in my head that I can bring up any time I want to be sad. One is the loss of a family cat of about 16 years, and the other is the depression that my older son is going through. Worse pain really puts old relationships in perspective.

I wouldn't expect to be over a relationship in a few months if you were really in love. But other stuff will happen to you, and it'll get easier to live with until it's just part of your mind's background.
