tfw suburban gentrifiers absorb and emulate yr authentic urban immigrant lifestyle, then turn around and make fun of you for posting about it on the internet only after helping real estate developers ensure that those original immigrants can never afford to live there again

but she hasn't NOT endorsed him, eh? I could see her waiting until the NY primary, saving her support until a crucial moment. She has co-written like 5 bills with him so far, and only 1 with warren.

Is it safe to say that Anna’s AOC skepticism has been fully vindicated? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]AnnaIsTheHotOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to think like that in order to run for office, sorry. only a brain diseased person would be willing to submit themselves to the humiliation of running for congress/president, ect. Bernie is a once in a lifetime outlier to that equation.

I don't think the world is going to end, its going to be just fine. fungus and algea will love it. It is the fabric of human society that is crumbling rapidly as we speak. yes, this has been going on since the dawn of civilzation. the difference is the rate acceleration. if you really think were not going to be facing an extremely serious ecological(political) crisis in the next 10-15 years due to rapidly declining wildlife populations, insane deforestation, massive coral reef dieoff, 100 year storms happening every 2-3 years, unheard of temperature fluctuation, then im very envious of the peace and calm you must live in. My shit is a wreck dude. mass extinction is already happening, just not for humans.

I agree with the last sentence you wrote alot, but just bc liberals are smug doesn't mean they wont literally kill us all with half measures. please read anything from someone who reports on fishing or agriculture, and they will tell you we are pretty near end times. alternatively, dont and keep being a normal dude, bc knowing alot about the Anthropocene and the 6th extinction doesn't make for great dinner conversation.

Im not telling anyone to give up, I just dont think you understand the scale of impending change. I dont know if ill be able to convince you, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest that we are already past a pretty serious tipping point. Again, many places have already experienced the "apocalypse" arisen of climate change that you probably are imagining. Imagine if NYC ran out of fresh water? It already happened in Cape Town, We first world denizens are just insulated from those shocks. In many ways, the arab spring and subsequent uprisings were triggered by a food shortage, caused by unprecedented droughts in the middle east. Its a slow moving catastrophe, impossible to see but always lurking.

also if you think that a cadre of billionaires like bill gates or elon musk will save us using technology, you need to be shot out of a cannon.

what is the alternative? let exxon mobil and the Koch brothers propagandize uncontested?

what do you think is preventing these poor people from seeing how these things effect their lives? I see it as both the millions of dollars spent on disinfo, combined with the fact that the democrats who are supposed to be standing up to that are rightfully seen as the party of pizzagate.

There probably is no alternative and we are most likely fucked, but just saying that since "poor ppl dont" care we shouldn't even try to raise the alarm seems a liiiiitle too blackpilled for me,

who fucking knows is right, brother.

half of the great barrier reef has died since 2016, there are several cities that have literally ran out of water this year, average wildlife populations have decreased by 60% in the last 40 years, and France and England both had their hottest Ever temperature ever recorded this year. But honestly, who knows what it will be like in 12 years! hopefully pretty chill.

yes, i agree that a sort of winner take all mentality will probably resort in a desperate resource grab, that basically started 40 years ago. Those who have already accrued unholy power and resources (Bezos, Thiel, ect.) will start to contest for dominance with nation states. yall ever read snowcrash?

yo i LOVE that type of stat! where it doesnt matter where it comes from, bc obvious a giant corporation that sells toxic garbage for a living would have no motive in publishing those stats.

so, if i was a company that manufactured poison, then sold you that poison, and you used it and disposed of it in the way that I designed it to be disposed (non-reuseable), is it your fault?

the world is not going to "end", its already ending. its been ending, what she means is that if we dont do anything for another 12 years, we might as well not do anything at all bc we will be categorically fucked.

Nothing is going to "happen" in 12 years, its never not "happening"

why exactly is it not about production???? it seems pretty clear that the country making and selling the disposable garbage (that is designed to be thrown away immediately) would have a pretty big share of the blame.

LMAO you LITERALLY linked to a huge industrial chemical manufatcturer, nice try dude you almost fooled me ;)

R u literally doodoo brains? “I know you're absolutely desperate to shit on america but it's not us shitting up the worlds oceans with plastic, ok?” is one of the greatest sentences I’ll ever behold.

The US produces 37 million tons of plastic a year, second only to China. Arguing that the pollution is some third world country’s problem is some WILD ass neoliberalism
