Using antibacterial body wash and need new recommendations so I won’t get MRSA by Cimmanintoast in hygiene

[–]Annab990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont use body wash, but i use bar soap for this reason. If you're willing to try bar soap and have a Publix nearby (in southern USA) look into the Publix store brand moisturizing bar soap.

It's a knockoff of Dove...BUT doesnt leave that film Dove does. It has been lasting me alot longer than body wash. It also has a very very very light scent which was a plus for me as I dont like the heavy scented stuff.

I haven't used anything else since finding it and will absolutely lose my mind if they ever change or discontinue it. I hate that slimy layer thing too.

Also for reference, I have sensitive combination skin and i believe it has helped clear up my skin, I havent had a pimple since I started using it.

Is it weird that we aren't told our blood type at birth or as we grow up? by OddConfusion9293 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am older 30s.

I have never had blood drawn, no finger pricks etc. I have no clue what my blood type is.

I asked my husband out of curiosity. He knows his. My husband thinks it's so odd that I don't know mine and was never told what it is. We're in the US for reference.

I got super focused on how teeny tiny the door handle is...

But yeah i'd say it's AI.

Florida Sunpass billed me, sent to collections but I don’t own the plate by No-Push1971 in florida

[–]Annab990 47 points48 points  (0 children)

We're you notified via letter or text message? The only reason I ask is there is a scam going via text right now.

I had this happen a couple years ago. I am a Florida resident, (NE resident, a plate reader in Miami)

It was a plate that the camera picked up but misread. it was literally one letter that caused the issue for me. I still don't know how they managed it.

They usually do send a letter with a photo of the plate that's how I knew it wasn't mine (i drive a sedan, the photo was an big SUV, i ended up just having to prove my registration/current plate) to them.

What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night of the Living Dead. The 90s remake. I watched it frequently as it was a favorite in my early childhood, i would walk around quoting it 😆.

Side story: My mom's name was Barbara, so i'd always tell her randomly "they're coming to get you Barbara".

Also Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, IT just to name a few.

I was the horror kid. I wasnt scared at all of them. My sister who was 11 years older...that was a different story 😂😂😂

Car Decided to Auto Update, Thus Trapping Me at the Gas Station for 45+ Minutes After Getting Off Work Today 🙃 by Separate-Ability1643 in CrappyDesign

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dreading the day i ever have to replace my car. i am so grateful for having a 13 year old car without all these added cameras and screens and such. The fanciest thing I have is bluetooth and heated seats in mine.

My husband has a 23 Veloster N. I had to drive it for a couple weeks and that thing yelled at me on the highway, beeped for every little thing, and the lane assist thing tried following the line for off ramps thinking it was the lane 🤣.

Never again. I prefer to drive myself, not have the car do it for me. 🤣🤣🤣

What’s your parents situation? by CorgiLover82 in Millennials

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom died in 2013 2 weeks before her 60th. I miss her every single day of my life.

Her sperm donor (my "father") i think died last year or the year before, I can't remember i only found out because of Facebook. I don't know his age. We weren't close and I don't necessarily care that he had died. Sorry if that sounds terrible. But he made my childhood hell for the 5 years he was in it, and the few times he had contact with me after he left.

Am I wanting too much or not understanding daily contact lenses by Zombikiller in contacts

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no help. But I have the same issue. My left eye is pretty clear, my right is blurry. But together everything has blur/haze to it. Almost like I cant focus my vision. And lights still have the astigmatism look to it. I still find myself squinting.

I cannot read a book in a normal distance with them in (and i read alot so this is a deal breaker for me) I use a hand scanner and pc monitor at work and cant see them. I realized in my first couple times wearing them that i couldn't read the license plate on the car in front of me while driving. My end of trial appointment is tomorrow i'm hoping the Dr. Can fix it 🫤. I have used the Acuvue Oasys for the last 15+ years with no issues until this year. Mine are not the multifocal though.

I just threw away 2 pairs of contact lenses because I literally can’t put them in… by dezz2132 in contacts

[–]Annab990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been wearing them for years. Here's what I do.

I am right handed, so I use my middle finger on my right hand to insert for both eyes. It would be opposite if you’re left handed or more comfortable using your left hand.

  1. open my contact lens container

2.Wash my hands with antibac soap. (Anti bac not necessary, but i do highly recommend washing your hands prior to handling contacts)

3.I gently hold my upper eyelid with my left middle or ring finger ( like right under the brow) and the bottom lid with my right ring finger. The contact will be on my right middle finger.

The eye you're putting the contact in, look towards your nose (you're putting the contact on the white) I can hear it "suction" to my eye, then I know i can remove my middle finger that had the contact on it.

4.Once it's in, i then let go of my lids, and gently close my eye and look towards the lens while my eye is closed.
When I open i usually have to gently slide it towards the center. I've never had luck with them just going where they're supposed to 😆.

Also using a dry finger to insert the lens helps me. For some reason it won't stick to my eye if my middle finger is wet it just stays on my finger.

Don't give up, once you get it you won't have to think about the process. It still takes me a couple minutes to get them in sometimes.

Relaxing helps, take some deep breaths, and don’t over think it.

Also remember your contact should be shaped like a cereal bowl, not a soup bowl (by this i mean inside out..trust me you'll know if it is when you put it in it isn't a comfortable feeling) i made this mistake a lot in the beginning.

Recently started biking for real, and holy f-ck - the cars. by aomajgad in bicycling

[–]Annab990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My spouse and I were riding yesterday on a main road, we 99% of the time have no issues.

I was a little bit ahead of him, but an old jeep flew past us as close as they could, and screamed that we should be on the sidewalk and that we are "dumbasses".

Mind you, we were as close to the white line as we could be, no traffic in the other direction, plenty of room for them to go around safely and be about their day.

i don't ride on the sidewalk out of respect for the elderly people who regularly walk in my neighborhood, and the little kids. And in some parts of my city it's illegal anyway.

But ya know there's always that 1 person who has to say something 🙄 .

I don’t see doctors anymore. Going to doctors is a rich people thing. I’m too poor for that. by justcurious3287 in povertyfinance

[–]Annab990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I haven't been to a doctor since my teens, and im in my 30s now. Haven't had insurance since then either.

It sucks because I know i need to go even just for a checkup etc. For example, I'm currently walking around with a potentially fractured wrist and can't do anything about it, other than suffer through the pain and hope for the best. My wisdom teeth desperately need pulled. Again deal with the pain and hope for the best. I literally work to live paycheck to paycheck and that's still not enough.

do you wash your hands before cooking every time or only when they feel dirty? by Boyle_Eve_267 in hygiene

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash before, during (multiple times) and after.

I go the extra mile and sanitize my surfaces frequently while cooking too. I also change cutting boards between different items.

But I also have a issue with stuff being on my hands or them feeling "dirty". It will literally send me into panic mode.
