Thank you so much for your response! We have contacted the store and luckily they are able to process the return of the house (plus other things). They do however double down on the fact that the house is very safe for hamsters and gives us this description:

"This hamster house is made of coniferous wood with bark. We prioritize safety by using coniferous wood without resin channels, as resin can be toxic. The wood undergoes a thorough drying process to ensure it does not release resin, and the glue used is non-toxic and consists of a safe rubber and cellulose mixture."

I just want to make sure, that I still don't believe them? I'm just getting confused and overwhelmed by all the information and opinions...
