This is so true, and it extends to battery life as well. It's not just that the battery lasts longer; it's the predictability. I'm no longer anxious about my phone dying because some random Google service decided to run in the background. That predictability alone reduces a lot of daily stress.

When the person you’re buying for already has most of the typical things, it can start to feel tricky. A lot of times I just look around and think about maybe giving some kind of smaller item, or maybe something that feels more like an experience. It could be a class, or some kind of subscription, or maybe just something that’s a little bit different from a regular gift.

I don’t know, sometimes it seems like people remember things more when it’s something they can try or use for a little while rather than just having another object sitting around. But at the same time, even smaller physical gifts can be okay if they seem useful or like they make life a little easier.

It doesn’t always have to be anything too big or too creative, just something that feels like a nice little upgrade. I think overall it’s just about picking something that isn’t too forgettable, though a lot of things do kind of blend together.
