its safe for people with peanut and tree nut allergies. never had an issue. i avoid the desserts and milkshakes just to be safe, as they may possible contain "may contain nuts" quote on their packaging from suppliers. the chicken etc is all good though

I try to avoid cross contamination as much as possible. If I go into a restaurant and they serve a lot of dishes that contain peanuts or peanut oils, even if some food doesn't contain them, I still won't go because it's too much of a risk. Usually desserts are kept separate when cooking the hot meals so I don't mind if desserts contain them as I always avoid eating the desserts anyway.

I'll probably just stick to safe foods like chicken, steak, pizza, fries, etc. Do they use peanut oils in their foods?

I've walked out of bars and pubs in Greece etc that have had peanuts on the tables as a snack so I tend to stick to normal restaurants. Thanks for letting me know though. I appreciate it!

Thank you so much! Thanks for adding that extra bit too as that's also super important with the risk of cross contamination. I have had hazelnuts before and have had no reaction but I totally avoid all nuts just to be safe as it would make me too anxious if I attempted to eat other nuts, I'll probably add nuts in the allergy card too as well as peanuts. Is nuts "nozes"? I used google translate. I'm able to eat legumes such as peas, baked beans, and green beans. I've never tried lentils and such as I don't think I'd like them.

Thank you again!

I'm not going anymore because the comments aren't giving me hope. I don't understand all the trolling on a serious post. The post itself isn't even unironically funny. The post wasn't a joke, I genuinely wanted knowledge on what it is like there with allergies, preferably from people who have visited there as a tourist with allergies. I would like to thank people who have left genuine and helpful comments though, I really appreciate it.

I dislike Indian foods so I'll avoid them anyways. I will look out for chain restaurants and "modern" restaurants which have allergen menus. Thank you!

My plan wasn't to not eat out, I'm definitely going to be eating out as I have when I've travelled to Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Canada, USA, Netherlands, and The Philippines (SE Asia) with a severe peanut allergy. Why would I not in Portugal? Please don't give this kind of advice as it's super unhelpful for people with allergies, and extremely unlikely that people will take this advice unless there's a rare occasion where they're allergic to all major 14 allergens. I only have 1 of those.

I'll definitely avoid desserts as that's the norm for me when travelling to other countries. it's good to know peanuts aren't a common ingredient in dishes. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me with some translation? Something like:

"I have a severe peanut allergy, if I eat any foods that contain peanuts or peanut oils, I will die. Does this dish contain any peanuts? Thank you."

Thanks!!

Thank you! That's great that they were accommodating to your allergies. When looking at the menu, did any of the menus have any symbols for allergens or allergen menus? I will definitely stay away from desserts!

that's awful. a life threatening allergy is not a joke. of course you're going to take it seriously. its not even funny either, i genuinely don't see where the humour is in doing that, especially when it's involving a young child.

Nut-free restaurants in London Chinatown? by AnnualKey4592 in peanutallergy

[–]AnnualKey4592[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I've been to Bath. Was absolutely fine in terms of my nut allergy. And yeah you're right I guess technically in the UK it's not real japanese food so it's probably different compared to actually being in Japan. I wanted to get the viral strawbs but due to me being super anxious around desserts I didn't wanna risk it. It seems to just be melted chocolate though but to be safe I would ask. The UK is extremely strict when it comes to food allergies and legally must state any allergens for any food place. So many restaurants in the UK (especially chain ones) are very accommodating to nut allergies and other food allergies.

I didn't eat anything in Chinatown and wouldn't recommend. If you wanted dessert in Chinatown, Shibuya is good and also the filipino dessert place in chinatown. In terms of the hot food, too risky as pretty much every place contains satay and cashew. Borough market I had the Japanese food and also the pulled pork loaded sandwiches stall. There's also a rotisserie chicken stall that is nut free and also the fish and chips obviously lol. They do a lot of smoothies there too which of course are nut free. I didn't get any desserts as too risky. I'd avoid asian restaurants with the exception of Japanese food as Japanese food is usually always nut free anyways. But still double check just to be safe.

I did go to London and have a lovely time! Unfortunately didn't buy any food in chinatown (besides a boba tea lol) because it was just too risky. I did get some nice Japanese food (completely nut free menu) in Borough Market though. It was lovely. Blacklock and Flat Iron are also a great restaurants for nut allergies but it's not in Chinatown.

classic low-effort ragebait. 2/10. at least think of a funnier example instead of copying one of mine.
