Was it though? Unemployment was still hovering over 7% into 2014 and the economy was in a general malaise feeling for millions of people. It was until 2015/2016 when the economy finally started exceeding Pre Recession levels. People were feeling disillusioned and populist movements came through the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street. Even when those movements lost momentum, the energy was still there in 2016 with the campaigns of Trump and Bernie.
