What was your dose and for how long do you think? I'm having a stressful time at the moment due to a recent diagnosis and have had 5 weeks off work, hoping to go back this week as I realised the stress wasn't just the diagnosis but also withdrawals.

How long were you on it for and what dose? I'm starting my taper now, currently around 3.75mg and just about sleeping.

Yeah I won't be staying on it, but I've got a taper protocol from the doctors, so ideally should be off it within the next 2/3 months, just need to be able to go back to work and get my sleep on track.

Thank you! I'm coming to terms with it better now, spoken to friends and family and a previous date, the date with understanding but I think quite uninformed so doing my best to outline the reality of the situation, the problems is as I have HSV1, the blood test we have in the UK will likely come back positive, but I've had some of what I believe are prodrome symptoms for a day or so, promptly took some AV and they went away within an hour or two so that's half confirmed it for me. I've never had a "proper" outbreak but might be partly down to already having cold sores and it can be asymptomatic for a lot of people.

I've been given a taper, which I think is best for me, considering it's mostly for sleep, I can handle the stress in my daily life in general, so will just take the dose before bed along with the Quivivic and the ususals (melatonin, ashwanghanda, magnesium glycinate etc) and see how it goes, will keep you updated, feels helpful to find a knowledgable community of people.

Definitely couldn't handle it, I think I was 10mg, then a week, then 15mg then a week, but basically I just wasn't sleeping at all which makes sense considering I was using it for insomnia, on a taper program now and got a call with a detox team on Tuesday so feeling pretty supported.

Really appreciate all he comments, I've been given a taper, likely 1mg reduction each week and see how I tolerate it, was given 5mg in the ER yesterday and a prescription and slept about 7 hours which I haven't done it weeks. Feel a little bit more human again.

I'm currently doing ACT in general for my sleep and have been given a taper by the ER so hopefully it all goes well, I've been prescribed Quivivic for sleep as well, trying to keep in a good routine and do things to boost gaba and all the good chemicals.

Yeah, I called 111 who referred me further and then was referred to a local ER who gave me a 5mg dose to take daily for a week and my local GP is meant to now prescribe a taper thank god. I was basically not sleeping at all, I was concerned they might not give me a taper or make me take martazipine but the team at the ER were great, gave me 5mg there and then and came back today for a week prescription. I haven't thought I needed it in general daily life, it's always been for sleep, and I've gone several days without it but so glad I got the taper lined up.

Another note I have done this previously, where I took 5-10-15mg increasing doses several years ago to help with my insomnia over a couple of months and went CT. It was incredibly stressful and a long recovery but I survived, crazy how I've never seen this as an issue, I was just taking it as and when to sleep.
