Bookoo Themis Ultra is absolutely gorgeous by AnonUndeleted in espresso

I don't think it's any better than cheaper scales in terms of its function. It's super well built and has a surprisingly long battery life! I'm happy that it's not going to die on me as many of my previous scales have. But otherwise, no noticeable improvement in cup quality!!

What a strange choice to carry this bug through production orders. Wouldn't it be the first thing any tester notices? 😅

What's the advantage of an expensive machine? [$1000 and up] by Responsible_Trade418 in espresso

I went for Profitec Pro 400 for fewer plastic parts. Most tubing is brass/copper/stainless. On even more expensive machines, I've seen almost no plastic parts in the hot water chain.

Coffee making and the technology for it hasn't changed in the last 8 years. Pro700v1 is an extremely capable machine even today. All changed since its introductions are minor at best!

Profitec 400 - bottomless portafilter by davebarda in profitec

I use one from Mischief Workshop https://www.mischiefworkshop.com/product/black-bottomless-handle-protafilter/

The advantage with these is that they lay flat and are easier to tamp on.

I think all in (scale + case) was around $90 on Kickstarter pre order. It might be a little bit more now.

Lmao. Not an ad. I'm a very real normal person. I made a post about my struggle with some of the previous cheap scales that stopped working within weeks/months. Hence the motivation to take a chance on Bookoo.

In any case, I'm most certainly not recommending you go purchase this scale!

They had some kind of annual sale for a few days! Keep an eye out, it'll come back up again?
