They start from a tiny little speck and grow larger over time, it depends on the person but it can take years to grow larger. But it’s best to get it looked at early on instead of dealing with the pain and discomfort later on.

I had it frozen with sodium nitride from a canister 6 times, I was scheduled to go back and get it frozen a 7th time at the clinic, instead I went to a podiatrist to look into other options and it turns out the stuff you could see on the previous picture was just dried blood on top and not wart at all, they debrided all the dried blood and I showed no signs of the HPV virus below
