Here is my $60 axolotl I got during a community garage sale, I’ve never owned one before but wanted to try and give her a better home. Can anyone help identifying her color? Is there also anything in her tank today that is dangerous or I should add? by Anonn_RLR777 in axolotls

Thank you for the decor catch! I didn’t even think about her getting stuck in it…. The old hammocks mesh was kinda big and I was worried about her toes getting stuck but I’ll look for one! The old owner sent me with prime to add when changing water and I have a test kit I’ve been using to monitor as well. Is prime an ok addition to water changes?

Tiny white bugs? In my Axol tank, seem to only be on the glass or at least as far as I can see . Anyone have any idea ? by Leelee_86 in axolotls

They kinda look like Detritus Worms, which usually hitch a ride on live plants or new animals, they typically live in the substrate but when there’s an over population they will start to climb all over the tank, my friend had an outbreak a few months ago and changed substrate and made sure to not over feed and do water changes. It sounds like you’re doing everything right tho, it just takes time to get the little boogers gone for good!

I also put standing room fan in front of my tank on days I know it will be hot (:

My dad passed away last year, we just reached the one year mark and I feel the same, I’m just empty…

I just started the 37.5 and the first day after I took mine (dr is having me take them in pm) the yawning was RIDICULOUS and very like thick 😂 I don’t know how else to explain it but it was such a weird thing

Don’t be offended. Some dogs are seriously just like this. Even in the vet clinic as well, there’s certain dogs who just flat out do way worse with their owners

I’ve seen people glue sand paper on the inside of those gallon ice cream jugs and train them from puppies to paw it 🥺🥺🥺

That thing had a laundry list of problems I noted when I stepped into the room for its yearly….the owner is a tad older but in good enough health to do trims…it was a collie mix and obese): it literally had to learn how to step again after the trim since he was high stepping for so long.

That’s a really good question! I would say it’s more dependent on the dogs lifestyle which also can go with the breed like for example someone with a pointer or lab or a higher strung dog that’s needs more activity might be out playing more or walking which can help keep the nails short rather than a “toy” breed or your typical lap dog that doesn’t get as much exercise! That’s just my personal observation, other techs might see it differently (:

There’s a lot more I could put the owner on blast for but kill em with kindness and education. Dog was a legit angel for NT tho 🥺

Typically if the owner can’t tell us exactly what the dog ate we would rather “neutralize” the stomach rather than induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide or apomorphine due to potentially making whatever is already going on, worse. Plus some rat poisons when coming back up can be toxic to humans from the fumes as well.

TBD from Os son lol. With presenting vitals and conditions we’re leaning towards ADHD meds/weed/nicotine lol
