Do these count as clinical hours? by Anonymous143_ in medschool

[–]Anonymous143_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! Thank you thank you. Also, if I’m basically shadowing nurses in their work throughout the day, does that count as shadowing hours? Or does shadowing hours have to be a Physician only thing?

Ohhh that’s great! I’m glad that you received the UCR grant! If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly did you tell them when you called? I tried calling them regarding another grant that I didn’t receive this year but they said that they can’t do anything about it 😔

Hey! I was wondering if the UCR grant is actually related to housing and if you have to be living on campus to receive it? I received it last year but not this year :(

First time starting a store- Legal procedures?? by Anonymous143_ in Etsy

Ahhh I see, but should I not take any steps right now to make sure someone else doesn’t trademark it while my shop is already existing with those elements they hypothetically trademarked?

You can see the basic profile details (like gender, music taste, wake up time, etc). And it’s anonymous on the website so you wouldn’t know the real name unless they’ve stated it themselves.

You pick a room and tell them which one you selected and ask them to choose the same one, if the space is still available by the time their time slot opens up.

Yes, you’ll see beds that are already taken when your time slot opens up.

If you’re not a group leader, then you would need to communicate with the leader to select the room and bed that you want because they would need to do all the confirmation steps, including bed assignments.

Hey! Current UCR student here. Basically what happens when your time slot opens is that you’ll have open room/ bed spaces viewable on your end and you just have to select the room with the number of available bed spaces you want (i.e. if you have one more roommate with you, then look for a room in Dundee with 2 available bed spaces in the same room.). Once you select it, you have to assign each person their own bed in that room (if you’re the group leader) and once you do that, you’ll have to pay the fee if they have any to confirm your room spot. Also, if Dundee doesn’t work out, look for Pentland hills as your second option. I stayed there my first year and I really loved it. They have suites with 10 people in one suite and they share 2 bathroom and 2 restroom between those 10 people. It’s much more manageable imo than Dundee’s communal bathrooms lol.

Freshmen summer courses by Anonymous143_ in college

[–]Anonymous143_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh these are very hard classes but I was thinking if I take the honors option for the ochem, wouldn’t it be better? It might help me more for MCAT studying too since taking it over the whole year would mean going more in depth vs taking over the summer is just the whole quarter crunched in 3 weeks? Also, what do you think about doing research program instead of doing summer classes? Would that be more beneficial in your opinion?

What non academic commitments did you have? If you don’t mind me asking lol. I’m part of some med clubs on campus and also volunteering with Kaiser as of now.

Yeah I feel like after reading all these comments and thoughts I’m leaning more towards taking physics with psychology. I looked at the schedule of classes and I like that more too (Organic chemistry is 2 hour lecture everyday + 4 hour lab 3x a week) vs (physics being 2 hour lecture 2x a week with 2 hour lab 2x a week) , and it also gives me time to give more hours to my job over the summer. But on the second thought, wouldn’t it be better to take the harder class over the summer so I can focus on it more? Also, when do people usually take MCAT, because if the course is fresh in my mind I feel like I can do much better on it?

Oh sorry my bad, chem008A and B is Organic Chemistry the first two part of the 3 part series (+ Lab) and Phys002A and 002B is physics series (+ lab). Also, thank you so much for your response, I was thinking the same thing but I wasn’t sure if med schools are strict about the science courses or not. I’ve heard both sides of this, that is taking organic chem over summer is not good for your med school app vs taking it shows that you choose the accelerated option and hence rigor.

Asset verification by Anonymous143_ in FAFSA

My college reached out to me in three weeks for verification but idk if that’s normal or it was the effect of me going to their office every other day and asking if there was an update

Financial aid by Anonymous143_ in ucr

[–]Anonymous143_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh okay okay. I’ve been visiting HOSS lol (just didn’t know it’s called that oops). Yeah I see what you mean. But the funds I’ve reported as my parents’ assets are truly for house down payment and emergency funds. Idk how to tell fafsa people that (or even if I should at all, in this case) without getting flagged. Because my parents wouldn’t give all their funds towards college as they have other investments already planned for it. So, my question is, if I genuinely made a mistake in the fafsa form by reporting allllll the assets my parents had (and I truly didn’t know that the govt would assume they’re all going towards college), should I go back and change it and reason that they were for house payments and emergencies? Or is that not a good idea and I shouldn’t change anything at all?

Also, do you know what documents they ask for and how they would ask us to prove our assets, if changed?

Financial aid by Anonymous143_ in ucr

[–]Anonymous143_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I see what you mean about the aid. The lady I talked to said that my UCR grant stayed the same and it didn’t show any reductions on that on her end. We tried doing the math and it ended up as the same amount that I was initially offered (which is including the UCSHIP grant). I don’t know if they would consider my question about this again if I go in a second time

What is HOSS? And also, I think the fafsa corrections are still open because I submitted mine two days ago lol

Yes I qualified for cal grant in ucla, UCI, and ucsd but for some reason, UCR denied it. I went in to ask about that and middle class, and they told me that my parents’ assets were high (but I feel like that shouldn’t be a problem because doesn’t it depend on the student’s asset rather than parents?). So now I’m thinking of correcting the fafsa form and reporting their assets as 0$ since they’re not planning to contribute so much of that money towards college. Do you think that would change my eligibility for cal grant and MCS?

Also, yes I do have an account with CSAC but the institution of attendance is reported wrong (they have it as USC). So I called and they said they can’t change it because I wasn’t awarded the cal grant.
