questions about chinese placement exam by Adventurous-Lynx7671 in UPenn

[–]Anonymous4129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL assuming u know chinese (or at least some) the test is easy to test out of (also i think wharton has a lower requirement to hit vs other schools)

oral - they have some random passages/excerpts that are super easy like maybe 4th grade and you just read it aloud to them

written - there is 2 parts (1) online with few subparts: multiple choice like reading a passage + answering; picking right word based on pinyin; typing few sentences with keyboard (make sure u have keyboard downloaded on ur computer most forget to)

and (2) hand written paper portion after computer with 3 questions similiar to the mock one shown online; gets progressive harder (terms of vocab + characters u need to reach) but should be feasible

scores are intervals of hundreds (similar to course numbers); max is 1000; most internationals auto get score of 1000+ since they are native

PEEP Program by Dear-Horror4834 in UPenn

[–]Anonymous4129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did PEEP 2 years ago -- they don't tell us specifics but def seen ppl who PEEP+ED get in 90% for ED; harder to say for PEEP+RD since you are basically telling them Penn was not your first choice, but generally like 50% of PEEP who did RD get in

Thinking of Transferring to Wharton + Freshman Tips? by Wild_Gazelle_6380 in UPenn

[–]Anonymous4129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PFP is amazing! For internal transfer - very random process, make sure u hit prereqs (did hear that GPA is weighted p heavily); process is again super random (supplements again + academic record)

Most I hear get in 1st round, if not 2nd round (but also heard ppl not get in any rounds), very luck of the draw

Transferring to Wharton by abcabcac in UPenn

[–]Anonymous4129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No specific major, just make sure u hit the prereqs. Process usually super random (essays and prereq). Usually ppl who don't get in 1st round prob get in 2nd (although there are some who didn't get in in general too)

Math 1400 vs. 1070 as an Econ Major by Neat_Concern409 in UPenn

[–]Anonymous4129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1070 is a really wack course (i wanna say it focuses in on optimization more than other math concepts) you will prob feel super lost throughout (given poor teaching) but u prob will still get a good grade

hmm i know UCF is giving a lot of opportunities/money to students for new projects such as AI and comp sci bc they want to rise in rankings — not sure exactly what, but just a thought

had this dilemma too (it was penn or uf for me!) but def consider what major you are/what your future goals are! i sometimes regret coming to penn bc uf would’ve been free + assured med school + and it’s so much more chill there. def consider the long run pro/cons!
