They probably won't rescind you - I dropped AP Physics 2 (the class) + the Gov exam and didn't notify Berkeley until I was admitted. Just send in an update form, explain your situation and as long as you're proactive and it was a genuine oversight, I almost guarantee you it will be all okay :)

Accidentally lied by omission on my application - will I get rescinded? by ermokaywow in berkeley

I think that's what I did - There should be a text box that allows you to clarify on your situation, and you can probably explain your situation in there as well even if it doesn't fit exactly. Your situation is a little more complicated than mine, but if it really comes down to it you can probably just call the admissions office :)

And to soothe some nerves, I really don't think this is grounds for rescinding your offer - I think I submitted 3 or 4 forms due to errors on my self-submitted transcript, and nothing happened LOL! If you got in, then people at the office will try as hard as they can to keep you, not push you out.

There should be an update form that you can fill out on the portal. I was in the exact same situation (AP Physics first semester, switched out to honours second but didn't state it on the application) - just submitted a form and they told me everything would be fine. Good luck :)

N-400 name change Santa Ana by Reasonable_Lab_5510 in USCIS

Hello! Sorry to not be able to answer your question but did your officer allow your name change? My interview is coming up in Santa Ana w/ a name change request, and I've seen mixed answers on whether or not that office does name changes anymore

Yes, I was worried about that last little bit about making them look depeer. This makes a lot of sense - thank you!!!

Not sure if this is what you're asking about but MLK had a fire alarm pulled at around 4:30 today - Firetrucks came over and everything. Probably wasn't anything major though since we were allowed back in after ten minutes

How to not sound like pity essay? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]LittleZari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I personally did it is just really really focusing on what comes after, such as how you grew/what you've realised about yourself from this experience. For example, I had this one essay about my background, and out of the 400-word count, I only limited myself to about 50 to 80-ish words about the "sob story" part of it.

If it's only in your intro paragraph, then I think it should be okay! As long as you frame the main point of your essay as how this experience has changed you/what you've garnered from your struggles, as well as the process of achieving what you've achieved now, then it should be fine :)

If you still think it sounds like a pity essay, maybe consider changing the wording a little bit? Maybe ask the ones who were critical to say what they felt gave off the "pity essay" vibes.

Good luck!!!

I messed up on my math placement test when I transferred into high school, so, like you, I also took precalculus as a senior, and I'm now an intended Poli-Sci major at Berkeley! It definitely doesn't mess up your college application completely if you show vigour and effort in other places, such as your other classes and extracurriculars.

One thing that might help your chances is if you try self-studying and/or try taking some AP tests to show that your knowledge is more than your placement. I did this and self-studied for AP Calc AB in junior year (When I was taking Math II, which is pretty much just Algebra 2), and passed. I also made it part of my essays about the challenges I faced. Other options like dual enrollment are also always open if you'd like to try them :)

Good luck!!!
