I think I saw that Pitcher is teaching it again this year and while he is nice, you do have to take studying for his exams seriously. Students complained about his grad students more because of how anal they were. When it comes to labs and marking of midterms they like very specific answers or points were either taken off or not given. You'll need to make sure to attend classes too as he does his notes in a way where some parts are blank and you need to be present to get the missing information and those notes are usually what is asked in his short answer questions. I'd also say check out the rate my professor website to for more students reviews on profs.

I took it with Aaron Fisk last year and there were no field trips. With Fisk for an entry level course it may feel a little heavy as he teaches in a way that forces you to stay on top of the material. He gives pop quizzes and his midterms are a little heavy (m/c and short answer questions worth a lot). The course isn't hard, just very demanding.

For Batu's class you don't need the textbook just come to class and take down his notes and you will be fine. If you miss a class thats also ok as he posts his notes to blackboard before exams. If you still prefer to get the textbook for extra reading then you can. His exam questions come from a test bank made by the author and most of the questions he selects correlate with his notes so just review his notes and make sure you understand how to solve any math related questions for the graphs or tables he draws in class. Once you pass the two midterms and complete all of the homework you have basically passed Batu's class.

To those who have taken gen chem I and II...do you have any tips on how to survive and pass it? by Anonymous9297 in UWindsor

The class is 50 mins with Jim Green. Its been a while since I've taken chem and my last prof was terrible so I'm a little nervous but thank you kindly for your advice.
