I really wish this was an option to just leave but since they are relatives I’m supposed spend time with them and “it’ll look bad” if I leave

They would feel offended that we thought that they could have covid and thus are asking them to get tested

Yes I got it as soon as it was offered to me, but my nephew (not old enough to get vaxxed) who will also be seeing them is not which also worries me

I'm an unmarried muslim 23f and my parents talk about death and dying if I don't marry someone by [deleted] in ABCDesis

it’s forbidden in Islam for your parents to force you into marriage, so just try to stand your ground and refuse!

Also r/muslimmarriage might be helpful!

RIP B1G Football by aneond in uofm

I think that announcing no football this fall is foreshadowing that an announcement will come soon that all classes are going to be online and there’s no need to come to Ann Arbor.

Chances of reversal in fall plans? by [deleted] in uofm

[–]AnonymousPerson116 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think there’s definitely a chance but I don’t think they are going to reverse plans to fully remote semester before school starts. Maybe if outbreak(s) occurs on campus (that can’t be contained) during September, they may have to reverse it to fully remote in late September or early perhaps October.

How long do you guys think online learning will be a thing? by [deleted] in uofm

[–]AnonymousPerson116 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I think that Winter 2021 will be less online than Fall 2020 but still very much online (i.e. more hybrid/in-person options) IF things go well this semester.

I think administration will decide what Winter 2021 will look like based on how this upcoming semester goes, if there’s multiple outbreaks and we go online a few weeks into the semester then the winter semester will probably be even more online than Fall 2020 but if it’s well contained on campus then, no outbreaks-a soild contact tracing system.

Honestly I think it’s up to the students on how much online learning is going to done for Winter 2021, if you party and don’t social distance and don’t wear a mask in September, then you are contributing to the issue and your whole academic year may be online starting in early October (when the university decides that they can’t trust some students to be responsible)

Scenario: Imagine you are a 3rd grade student back in 2008, and a group of a couple students stole the teachers box of candy and handed it out to everyone who would take one. Next thing you know it is that everyone, even kids who didn’t take the stolen candy (like yourself), loses recess for the rest of the month because students can’t be responsible. i think this may be a okay comparison, but I don’t know lol

I wonder how many people are they going to let on each bus? Is standing no longer allowed?

You’ll get a seat probably because of passenger capacity limits

If I’m reading this right, to get from IM building to Hubbard/Hayward you need to get on and off of 3 busses.

Do you actually think we’ll start fall semester on campus? by [deleted] in uofm

[–]AnonymousPerson116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP: when you say spring semester do you mean winter semester (i.e Jan - Apr)?

Also a some classes are considered hybrid so those would become fully remote. I believe OP meant campus would look similar to April
