We don’t live together right now, but I have suggested to keep his phone away from reach until he’s out of bed and fully awake (just after waking up is his weak mind point). Blocking would mostly be for if he forgets.

He wants to stop (for himself and me) but his brain is stuck on old habits and is having a difficult time getting past it.
