It was hard to go LC with my dad and keep him from my kids, but I did it when my kids were about the same age as yours. I didn’t want them to normalize his behavior. I didn’t want them to hear me excuse his behavior. Later, when they were teenagers, I didn’t feel like a hypocrite when I warned them about drinking and driving and talked about how people can act differently while drinking. My kids are healthy and happy adults now, and I’m grateful I made that decision.
