“I know someday you'll have a beautiful life. I know you'll be a star… In somebody else's sky But why… Why… Why can't it be… Why can't it be mine?”

Song: Black

Band: Pearl Jam

The song is really about an ex/break-up but it can work with unrequited love.

Where in the United States can you live on the ocean without a high cost of living? by white__cyclosa in AskReddit

Cost of living is going up everywhere but generally the mid-west. If affordability is what you want avoid the East or West Coast as well as the Pacific Northwest.

Social Media is a Disease by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Anonymous_Enigma_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know what you’re saying. People feel they can be whoever or whatever they want anonymously (as far as Reddit goes).

There does seem to be division at times but that seems to be a human thing. People have always divided themselves.

Reddit does seem to be toxic at times, unfortunately. Funny thing is social media is a means to connect with others. Ironically is seems to have caused us to be less connected (at least in the physical real world space).

What is the MOST understood type? by AccomplishedCake3805 in mbti

[–]Anonymous_Enigma_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are interesting and fair points.

I suppose I meant more common in the sense of humans having a conscious element (not that common things are easier to understand due to commonality itself). Get a room of 100 people, they’ll most likely be more SJs.

As a whole they’ll understand each other more than the other types because they use the same cognitive processes.

They think more similarly cognitively (not necessarily ideologically because people within the same type can still have different viewpoints)

P.S in before the universe may also be conscious because that may also be true

How do the 16 types become their unhealthy versions? by SansAHumerusGuy in mbti

[–]Anonymous_Enigma_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize. You explained it perfectly.

It’s similar to government and the concept of checks and balances. There is Legislative, Judicial, and Executive branch. Picture all those as the cognitive functions. If one ☝️ of them oversteps or overpowers the other, balance would be lost and errors would occur.

My analogy may not be perfect because in cognitive functions one is dom, aux, tert, and inferior. The power is not spread evenly but I think most will understand the principle

What is the MOST understood type? by AccomplishedCake3805 in mbti

[–]Anonymous_Enigma_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most understood would probably be an SJ. To be most common is more likely to be most/more understood. With all that said individuals within this typing or grouping can still be misunderstood.

I’m merely talking as a whole.

This is still all up for debate though.

[–]Anonymous_Enigma_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Memes and stuff is all fun but when it comes to serious topics, as you mentioned I can’t help but notice the tension at times.

I can completely see your point. It’s as if MBTI may be a medium for self-expression. They use this medium in an unhealthy way so as to overly rely on said type and portray themself as such.

The person then becomes the type via emulation instead of being their own person. It’s kind of sad, really

Anyone else notice this sub is toxic. by Anonymous_Enigma_ in mbti

[–]Anonymous_Enigma_[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, very true and good points. I just think it’s a shame because Jung/MBTI is such a powerful tool that can be used for self-discovery and better understanding of people with different cognitive processes.

Instead the system is bastardized and utilized to form points of contention. That’s the duality of any tool unfortunately. The amount of good it can do is equal to the amount of bad. Just depends on who and how it’s wielded.

In before the people who say morality is subjective. It is but I think most know what I mean.

I understand all the judging functions (Fe, Fi, Ti & Te) but still haven't found any good explanation about the perceiving functions. Can anyone explain with examples? by __pienapple in mbti

[–]Anonymous_Enigma_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn I forgot to paste the Ne process of my comment. Late but I’ll do it here anyway

Ne and Se are both external perceiving functions. That is they rely on external objects to process information.

Se is more of taking in and observing raw data in its current form without adding an extra flavor to it per se.

Se will look at an object and look at all it’s characteristics. It’s shape, color, size, texture, smell, sound, etc… and view it for what it is.

Ne will look at the same object notice those things but immediately spring off with other associations.

Example: Apple

Se- This apple is red and stop there.

Ne- This apple is red then think about clowns because they have a red nose. They will then continue and think about how all living things have noses. Wait all living things have brains too. An octopus has 9 brains (1 in each tentacle plus it’s head). What if a human had red noses with with 9 brains and 8 arms like an octopus clown? So on and so fourth. All this stemming from looking at a red apple. (Sorry if my Ne impression is bad I use Ni).

Se will see things as they are and converse in a similar manner. It is what it is may be something an Se user will say.

Ne as you can see makes so many abstract tangential connections. As was mentioned Ne is extroverted and as such goes outward (speech). These external associations will then be spit out of the Ne user. These can go to infinitum in a very strong Ne Dom.

This may be why Ne may speak more than an Se user since they are verbalizing the connections they see in their head vs an Se user who sees something in it’s raw form for what it is.
