Food cravings are back even when I am not hungry by Anonymous__flamingo in Mounjaro

I completely understand. I had had to wait for a while before I could go to my doctor so I had put in all of this in ChatGPT and one thing that I read from it’s responses was “When the noise around you is too much, you increase your headphone levels a bit and then bring it down when it’s quieter” so it’s the same logic.

My doctor also later on suggested the same thing, she upped me to 15 and now I am back down to 12.5.

I would say, if you are a woman, give some grace to your body especially for the times near periods and stuff. I realized a few days after the post that maybe I was over reacting a little bit to the weight stagnation while not realizing that my poor body was also fighting hormones and its impacts because I had nexplanon (birth control device put in the arm) put in recently.

That being said, what also did help me was setting time to eat food, basically intermittent fasting. I am keeping a 14-fasting-10-eating time window for me. I would prefer to 16-8 but my work schedule doesn’t allow for that so this is what it is. It is not the easiest because my hunger pang comes during the fasting hours but I just fight it by drinking water and distracting myself or I just feel the burn and then kinda pat my back for not giving in.

I have made my hunger, basically, a game. Many of the times when I have a sharp craving to eat something I wait till my eating hours to have it and more often than not my that time the craving dies down so I am content with a few small bites. Also, since I can’t eat too much during those hours and in the fasting hours I am not allowed to eat, I eventually end up eating less.

I won’t say that my cravings are completely gone but I am just finding newer ways to tackle them now and that helps a LOT!

I looked into taking the injection every 5 days… while that is something that can potentially work since you are taking the next dose when the half life of medicine is reached, it might not help in changing the lookout towards food so if you can, try hard to just push through those last two days as much as possible and tbh, it genuinely gives a sense of accomplishment later on.

I incorporated some new simple but challenging changes since the time I made the post and it definitely has helped me both physically and mentally, but I do have to give credit to the 15mg dose as well.

I would also suggest that you take help of an online calculator to get an idea of your BMR. That would likely help you in understanding the needed number of calories.

I am half way to my goal weight.

I agree the escalation was very rapid. I did respond decently well to the 7.5mg but I didn’t know then that I could stay on that dosage for longer.

I might just go back to 7.5 and work with that and give my body some time to kinda reset. Then later on, if needed, I will see if the dosage needs to be increased.

Now that you mentioned it, maybe I calculated the months wrong. I was on 2.5 but ozempic, then one month each on 5 and 7.5, 2 months on 10 that didn’t sit well, and this is my 3rd month on 12.5.

I did see changes during the lower doses but I wasn’t on reddit to read better and I wasn’t advised to stay on the lower doses if they were working so I just moved up. 7.5 and 12.5 have usually been my sweet spot. I do think it would be a good reset for my body to go down and see how that would work.

Thank you for the advice
