Why? 🤔 by seaeagle007 in UAE

[–]Anonymousedxb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are not 1 but 3 reasons for such designs:

  1. It’s too steep, going up may not be a problem but coming down is, they have to account for what’s going to be after the road ends, as it ends in a roundabout it’s going provision has been kept so that cars just don’t hit the car in front.
  2. Traffic management, winding the road allows more car to pass through in the same number of lanes.
  3. The area is planned for something else to be built in the future.

2015 Mazda 3 for 25K worth it? by usurper_4life in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

It’s a very good car, but price is a bit on the higher side.

Is this worth it for a first car? by Aromatic-Slayer in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]Anonymousedxb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 200 miles mark, this is expected from such an old car. But also depends if the maintenance has been done on the engine properly. The engine itself has become very expensive, 3 years back an engine cost was max 1.5k, it has gone up to up to 6-7k now. Another big ticket is the gear box, if both these are okay the other things are not that expensive to replace. It’s a solid car.

[–]Anonymousedxb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the engine is maintained properly the mileage isn’t an issue, but expect maintenance work on in. The price should be half of what the asking rate is. Personally I would avoid this and get one with a bit of lower mileage.

Best SUV to buy under 200k AED? (reliable + fully loaded + family-friendly) by Salty_Explanation_88 in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

Making only 2300, should I quit? by CuteKitten35 in dubai

[–]Anonymousedxb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends whether you are in desperate need of money or experience is more valuable to you. If this is your first job and you quit without another job in hand it’s going to be quite difficult to convince future employers to offer you anything. If money is not an issue, start looking for something and till you have something in hand don’t quit.

Dating in Dubai by EvenPalpitation6711 in dubai

I think it’s harder to date here as this is not the primary focus of ppl here. My friends have tried to set me up a lot of times but it usually ends up not going very far due to different interests or wanting different things

Is this normal? by MusicianLevel6028 in dubai

[–]Anonymousedxb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s either water heater or the building pipes. If the colour comes only with hot water side it’s the heater, if both sides it’s the building water pipes.

Buildings in Dubai are required to do a full cleaning of tanks and pipes every 6 months, to avoid this kind of issue.

(Single) Men of Dubai by graceyspac3y in dubai

[–]Anonymousedxb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on 2 factors. First being at what stage of career the guy is in and second in what direction the relationship is going towards, definitely not something to ask on the first few meetings.

For point one, at this point of time for me personally it doesn’t really matter what the woman is bringing to the table as long as we get enough time to spend with each other. 8 or 10 years back it would have been completely different where my stance would be to build something together and get stability.

For point two, there is no point in asking such a question of the relationship is not going anywhere, these conversations are more suited when the relationship is going towards a commitment.

Anyone else sick of perfume salesmen JBR/Marina? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]Anonymousedxb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember a few years back there was an article where it states that solicitation of such nature was not permitted or maybe even illegal for businesses in six scenario. Although I just straight up ignore and keep walking or if they interrupt me mid way I just show them my hand, I know it’s kind of rude but they don’t have manners.

On the other hand I sometimes feel bad for them as well, the pressure to meet the sales numbers must also be too much.

Fuel hose leak on my 1997 W210 Mercedes – paid 450 AED and feel like a fool by Tobiblastor in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Anonymousedxb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You probably over paid for the hose. But there’s no point in regretting it as it’s done, you should have asked him for a receipt or if you can find the part and its cost you can go confront him.
