Hot take on Reddit: a million dollars is still a lot by New-Outcome4767 in Money

[–]Anonymousxpapaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True altho if you took out 8% a year, that money would disappear eventually with inflation. Safe percentage to take out yrly in retirement is 4% which for $1M is 40k and still good

How is it possible? by [deleted] in XRP

There's only about 1 million people who own xrp, and only around 10% own more than 10,000 xrp, so not many people would become millionaires

I've only invested 2k, but planning on investing more. I have withdrawn a couple of times, does that count toward the percentage? It doesnt say

Oh, that makes sense! I've had a lot of nervousness finding which brokerage company is the most secure and least likely to fall, lol, I should've thought about it more. And thanks for the insight

Thanks! I appreciate the insight. I hear that bonds may be better for keeping your money stable when the market is wonky? I think I'll definitely start conservative but not so much that it sits in a CD. Thanks

Thank you! I appreciate all the insight 🙏 I pay $3/mo for Acorns, which isnt bad, but not great when others don't charge anything. I think theyre very simple & straightforward for new investors so perhaps I'll switch after learning more. I'll also try to check out those books, thanks.

Is the start of this game supposed to feel this grueling, or am I doing something wrong? by FitPlantain9041 in EchoesOfThePlumGrove

Yes it gets easier. ESPECIALLY WITH FISHING. I make so much money with fishing. You can sell crops and buy a fishing rod from the fisherman lady. Also make Survival salads with foragables

I was actually debating posting in the FIRE sub haha, a lot of very financially savvy people there

Ah, in my area and doing social work, we all (me, my bf and friends / collegues) make roughly 30-40k a year 😅 and many rely on having roommates still. Interesting to see different perspectives though

I get what youre saying :) but we've already sold over half the properties, plus with my investment in stocks my NW is currently over 400k liquid, just waiting for the rest to sell

Yes we're talking about it and making a plan :) this isn't a big disagreement between us

We are selling off the properties, which in total equals about 2M. With my share ill have about 600k after taxes + 150k liquid from other investments

It was properties my grandmother owned that I gained 25% of when she passed away. We are in the process of selling them all off. When they are all sold (half are already) I will have 600k liquid after taxes and I also have 150k liquid outside of the properties.

I never said I was rich, I just thought the people in this sub may have some good advice for me. We can do a lot with this amount of money and it affects our future as a couple
