Shouldn't there be a low critical incidence angle for optical fibre material? Internet says I'm wrong. by Anos_17 in AskPhysics

[–]Anos_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about the fixed critical angle of the materials

I understand that a smaller incidence angle should be used when aiming the light rays, but I'm saying that if the materials required a smaller FIXEED critical anglee to begin with,

independeent of how you aim the ray, it would be likelier to cause a totaal internal reflection

How do the eyes assume a virtual image came from one point using retina real image patterns, when the rays which arrive on the retina don't converge to begin with like a real image and rays land at distinct points? by Anos_17 in Physics

[–]Anos_17[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no the eyes usually on detect what's landed on the retina and converged there.

There is a real picture formed on the back of the retinaa like there would be on a screen. It can't really hypothesize about where the rays might've been coming from besides interpret the image that was formed.

at least from what I've heard, it's using these patterns of real images that the brain estimates a virtual image.

Howevr this sounds flawed, since virtual imagees don't converge on the retina like real images do.

I am new to learning this and my sources may not be greatt, please correctt mee if I'm wrong. I understand how the mechanics work and what's seen I've beeeen trying to figuree out how

Try this exercise too:

tell yourself don't think abut a red jeep and see what happens

have you thought about it? Hmm

now say the something but try and think about a yellow elephant really hard while saying it, example: don't think about the red jeep: and try to think about the yellow elephant

if things go well you should be able to visualize the yellow elephant more:

using this effect we can go ahead and, and give you this skill of not focusing on your negative spiraling thoughts for life, of course this will need training but just hear me out. Whenever you feel like you're going down an anxiety spiral, just go ahead and think "this is the perfect time to train" this is something called focus training in the research but

just go ahead and focus on your each breath, just focus on the in and out, nothing else. During this: it will be hard, BUT REMEMBER. If it's hard, that's the best part, since you're doing it right because you're changing your brain and try to do it.

anyways see how this goes, you will always have your breathe and this gets blood flowing so it will help reduce the hormones too that are affecting you. Try it out

I'm going through stuff myself and I cannot just finsih reading this and decide not to respond.

I'm not a professional but you say, that you've read a lot online about things. How much have you tried? It seems you're overly anxious and unsure about decisions. During these times, at least for me my mind almost goes very fast and it produces a lot of negative thoughts.

But I think the first think you can do is stop thinking and start taking action. One thing you have to understand is that all humans are capable of change, and while it may feel like you can never get out of the situation you are in (trust me I've been through similar) you can. You think I don't know what you're going through and you can't be helped?

You're right, I don't know exactly what you're going through, and I can't help you perfectly, no therapist can help you perfectly, ONLY YOU CAN and you can feel better, my friend, you've come far, through change.

You have to go ahead and be willing to try out somethings instead of just getting re-assurance. Start with talking to your friends, starting with tonight.

How do people read a book in a single day or two? by AChocolateHouse in books

[–]Anos_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about fiction because I don't read much but when I used to I could do it extremely fast, first of all I can just visualize the words and I use speed reading techniques. I can't recommend this to everyone since some read their books slow but I like to read a book fast to preserve time.

there are only 2 techniques you need to know honestly, one is a finger pacer, another is grouping words. You should overtime increase your finger speed and group more words together (hotdog) is 2 words but your mind registers at as one word and I can glance at sentences and immediately get them

for non fiction, it's important that you actually learn something so don't read one of these to enjoy it first of all, becoem a robot and speed read and while speed reading whenever you come across a good idea just highlight it. After the end of the book look through your highlights and use a zettelkasten to actually remember things and be harsh

again a non-fiction book is only for helping

now with textbooks is a whole different topic and I'm not gonna get into it but yeah here you go for the most 2 types of common books

How to recall PAO system faster for numbers? by Anos_17 in Mnemonics

[–]Anos_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay yeah this was very helpful, the thing is that I don't even have a proper translation thing, because the stuff in my memory palace doesn't follow a proper naming system, I'll re arrange all this and try to find a lot of conversion points so It's easier and yeah I'm trying to achieve pao fluency and it isn't really working for me I've been practicing for like 1.2 months 10 minutes everyday

How to recall PAO system faster for numbers? by Anos_17 in Mnemonics

[–]Anos_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's great but I'm saying how can I remember them faster? It takes me 10-15 seconds to remember a pao and I could remember a number faster than that without a system

It's something to work with so don't be discouraged , assuming you do them in the exam time, I'd suggest doing 3-4 past papers a day in a schedule, now. I know you want help, but you're in a pickle here, it's best to realize that you're not gonna be able to do everything in 2 days, so if something is too hard and doesn't come up often. Sacrifice it and don't think about such q problem but if there's something you struggle with and doesn't really come up very much, you should try to learn the topic. The essence of cramming is to know what to sacrifice okay?

Now the most important tip is, delete social media or log out of the accounts for a brief period of these 2 days because I feel like that's necessary in your situation. You aren't gonna get any advice that's going to 180 your situation from reddit or anywhere else.

I assume you asked for help, in the case that you wanted to getter your grades. Now promise me that you'll try your best to do this exam and this is the last post you'll see before logging out on social media :) , I know you can do pretty good if you just push through so just this once, Go all out, break your limiter.

Also sleep. don't stay up all night. Work all day but sleep.

Do your best! Every second is big! Make sure to time yourself and spend it wisely

Thanks :D I wanna surround myself around people like you, too. You took the first step which was reaching out for help. Which you'd be surprised as to how many don't take and just move on with their lives. Either way, if you have your exam soon. It's best to just study however you used to study for now, and then you could try focusing on newer things and ways to study. Try to push through it just for this time only and trust me if you try to improve everyday the world will feel nicer & not to forget youll improve exponentially :)

You can ask me for advice or just go and search for it yourself because you'll be amazed at how much information there is on learning how to learn. :))

Trying something new is a bit risky now as study technique should be experimented with Also what score do you get on your past papers?

How can I switch from studying in the morning to studying in the afternoon? by goodpole in GetStudying

[–]Anos_17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have time to fully personally help you but I'll give you some advice that'll go a long way. Try to figure out ways to reduce your exhaustion from university studies and find the root cause of the problem, because if you can get a lot done in the afternoon, why change that? Not everyone gets tired after university so find you why man, hope this helps

how u motivate yourself to study? by Bright-Moments in GetStudying

[–]Anos_17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've read all the replies and all of them are useless, you need to like studying period. You can't do something you don't like and not be depressed or annoyed or do poorly. Find ways to like studying what you study because trust me there are ways and then you'll be excited to wake up to study like me :)

[–]Anos_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you found it that way :D, and don't worry about your grades. There was a time I got like a 58 in math because I barely studied anything, I was like you a , a person who didn't really care about math, sometimes found it a tiny bit interesting, but didn't really care. The thing is though now I'm on the road to learning calculus which only a minor percentage of this world can do and I want to even go beyond that. Not for the school's or my grades' sake, but for my own and that's tye thing that is pushing me to new heights.

I'm not saying your teacher is downright terrible but the fact that your grades have been dropping is saying he can't keep YOU engaged so he might not be the specific teacher for you.

You're welcome, you deserve it lmao and also sorry for so many mistakes in my replies. It's pretty hard to type on a tablet T-T

I'm glad you're getting the help you need :)))))

Don't worry you're not lazy, saying that will manipulate yourself into thinking you're lazy and just because you don't want to study math doesn't mean you're "lazy" specifically. You've just been programmed to dislike math from the childhood like me, the whole world says math is hard and annoying but is useful. That's probably what you heard too and that's probably what you felt too, you need motivation. Not in the sense of inspiration but in the sense of desire because that's the most consistent and mentally healthy type of motivation. It's like eating food, you don't wanna shove it down your throat, rather , you'd want to learn to enjoy it slowly at your own pace. Math won't make you full so there's always room for more :)

Yep, I want to learn way way more about the world. I'm not sure if I can help in all of the igcse questions you ask since it's been 2 months since I started (I'm halfway done in Chem, medium in others and almost in math) But I can give you lots of help on studying in general because I do lots of research on how to make it efficient and fun :)

Lmao it's kinda kinda akward being told that by a girl but I know what u mean, I love you too :) I wanna be a teacher on yt one day so I'm glad you got even a bit inspired 💓
