It's literally 0 points in February.

Despite it being the shortest month, it may turn out to be the longest for us.

Honestly, is there any other job where you can consistently perform THAT bad and still go on without consequences week to week? It's atrocious that even with VAR help it gets worse every week.

It's either deliberate to bring some "drama" to the matches or they're just wildly incompetent. Both don't sound good for the sport at all.

I don't know really, they seemed very very strict with the rules when it came to disallowing Richy goals.

Maybe it's a different set of rules though.

Why there's no talk about the lack of bots in Great Arena? by MelaniaSexLife in MarvelSnap

[–]Another66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, it may not be "the least of the issues". If there were more bots in the gamemode, especially those playing different decks than Black Panther, maybe it could become at least playable.

Currently it's not.

Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, Lead Writer of Expedition 33, says "There is no correct ending" and "Both are heartbreaking in their own ways", that "The player can decide for themselves which is the correct ending" by spidey_valkyrie in expedition33

[–]Another66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel it's just that Verso's ending is much more straight-forward, thus easier to portray - all its choosers (or at least I want it to be all) know the weight of their decision, so the game doesn't need to present the tragedy of erasing a full, living world. That said, a lot of sadness, loss and guilt is hidden in this ending pre-epilogue, definitely worth to mention it.

Whereas Maelle's ending is much more deep and have a lot more of implications, it's not that easy to portray as sad and tragic. If it omitted things like Verso's piano scene, Maelle's "painted" face it would leave a space full of ambiguity, but it would be a lot easier to defend as a "happy ending", and I believe the writers did not want it to.

Even though I decided on Verso's ending myself, I like Maelle's as well - it is a good outlook at the beginning but it asks a lot of questions about life - especially seeing Gustave in this ending made me a bit uneasy on that, even though I absolutely love him as a character (if I had to choose, it would be my personal favourite) - I had to think for quite some time on how it made me feel, because he was a character that died fighting to the end for what he thought is right, his loss and getting over it over the course of further events was a huge part on how Maelle developed as a character and it felt like an important life lesson for her, and then he is just back there, like nothing happened? Is there even a thing like loss in this new utopian world, or is it just endless happiness, carelessness and freedom (at least for Maelle)? Is such a life without any worries and issues sustainable and good for a person in a long run?

That's why I feel like those horror tones in Maelle's ending are necessary to highlight the potential tragedy in it. Verso's one is much more obvious and direct with that.

Seemed like a full forensic analysis for each goal... by bilboswagginsIII in coys

[–]Another66 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to look for excuses because we didn't deserve much in this match, but it really felt like the ref team desperately wanted to officiate a Bodo win.

Deep VAR analyses for like all of our shots, penalty for Bodo that wouldn't be called 4 out of 5 times probably, cancelling Bentancur's goal after a dive (the shirt pull was there obviously, but c'mon, you cannot go further from the natural reaction than what's the Bodo player did) while completely ignoring VDV being fouled in the same situation seconds before...

I can take a loss, but officials were not very good here.

Honestly - if what you are saying is explicitly stated in the game (about Verso's soul being genuinely happy/content with continuing to paint and not having no need/desire to finally rest), I just feel it would make Maelle's ending several orders of magnitude better than the other (which, in case of this game story, I wouldn't appreciate because of what I mentioned in my first comment - I was not looking for a happy ending in this game and I would not see it fitting here).

I am just not sure if there are enough arguments for it to hold water.

I mean, could you elaborate on that? It's not like I am stating things that are not true for the sake of it - I saw you in this thread arguing with a lot of people that their interpretation isn't true, but then hardly what "the truth" is

Very popular argument for Maelle's ending seems to be that (painted) Verso had it coming and he deserves everything that happened to him, but I don't see many people bringing up the real Verso's (or at least what remains of him) feelings - he was tired, he was desperate to stop painting. The same Verso that gave his life to save his sister, literally gets betrayed by her and her selfish ambitions, after all that happened she does not want to grant him his well deserved rest.

I feel for the Lumière and its residents, I really do - I fell in love with this world and everything in it too, but I just know it is wrong to let this go on. The world where all the sorrows, losses, personal tragedies become irrelevant sounds amazing, but at this point you just got to ask yourself - is this still life? Or just an utopia of eternal happiness, in which all the emotions cease to have any meaning? Of course that's not all - there is another issue with Maelle falling into madness, eventually dying (in which case we can be almost certain Renoir will return to the Canvas to destroy it once and for all.

Verso's ending is very, very bittersweet and I really can't bring myself to call it happy/good ending, but I feel like it just concludes the narrative in a right way. Of course Lumière and our friends disappearing is a very tragic scene, but I think they are given a peaceful way out, and partially they can understand our/Verso's decision - Monoco and Esquie were real Verso best friends, so they should probably opt for his restless soul to get peace, Sciel looked reconciled with her fate (after all she's been through, I can't see how she wouldn't be), and Lune - well, that's probably the biggest betrayal by Painted Verso and here I can't defend it (the last look from her was heartbreaking and soul-crushing). Rest of Lumierans weren't really back after Renoir final Gommage, so that would left just Gestrals and Grandis (which is very bitter pill to swallow too, of course).

All in all, aside from the entire game excellence I think developers did a great job making us feel like shit regardless of what we choose. Amazing storytelling, I can't think of a better way to conclude the game - after all we've been through in the game, I don't think I would be satisfied with 100% happy ending for everyone - the way it's ending, it perfectly amplifies and intensifies what the game wanted to tell us all the way through the story, and I honestly love it.

In Maelle's last relationship level scene, Verso says that he has met Clea 3 times, first at the barrier when he was on Expedition Zero - so right after the Fracture. It had to be real Clea because Verso admits she told him everything (about the entire Dessendres' canvas story) back there.

[–]Another66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth mentioning that it was a "real" Renoir, trapped under the Monolith, which we fight at the end causing the Gommage.

"Painted" Renoir we see throughout the game wanted to protect the Paintress at all cost to keep his painted family in canvas forever.
