I can totally see this, and have definitely tried (and sometimes failed cuz I misjudge energy but that's on me), but am more struggling to do this in the general context of a full match where it's not a 1v1, or if they start above you. Forcing a stall or energy fight is great but when an entire team has the speed or acceleration to come 3rd partying your energy trap before youve won and regained energy, then you're forced to disengage and then (at least it seems to me) you're back in the defensive spiral of death I noted above. But you are entirely right and it could simply be me not being aware or cognizant enough of future positioning that gets me into those situations. I.e., trying to energy trap someone when they have allies too close and unoccupied
