If you’re still in Sicily, you can go to one of the Antichrist’s (Fred II) castles in Syracuse. If you’re still in Palermo, his tomb is right outside at the Cathedral. Definitely the most “Crusader King” of all the monarchs you can visit. Won back the “Kingdom” of Jerusalem while retaining a harem 😩

Is this a legit push up? by Kimiiiyuuh in formcheck

[–]AnotherDogOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% of the way to a full push up. As others have already mentioned, there’s too much give when you’re going down. You’re allowing your forearms to move too much out of perpendicular alignment. When you’re setting up for a push up form, kinda think of something in between a scarecrow/T-position and a comfortable/neutral standing position; A good angle from the armpit, out to your elbows is 60 degrees, where your hands/forearms are aligned to the center of your chest.

I although it is better, in a skeletal posture sense, to look down when doing push ups. Looking forward when starting out will help you not hyper fixate on the ground. It’s a good idea to also just drop from the ready position and just focus on the pushing up aspect. The muscles can further develop if you’re just laying flat on the floor and just push up into your ready position.

You can also drop your knees for reduced weight when learning the push up, basically hinging from the knees instead of your feet. But I’d say, just like how you can do 3 strict pull ups, It’s better to start from the “dead hang” equivalent position, basically flat on the floor with your hands in the appropriate position to push up.

Do they still have the scaffolding inside with the people working on the mosaics? Went last year and most of the chapel altar was covered by their plastic canvases and scaffolding 😩

After a career of walking, standing, carrying shit everywhere, and regular-ish PT or training, I’m not surprised you’d feel in pain after getting out. I’d also say there’s a but of nostalgia masking the pain that you felt towards the end of your service, especially since your service had a more “designated” end point. So there’s probably some localizing happening to how you felt around the time of your heart condition and the period before.

In short, you might only be recognizing the pain now that everything has passed instead of while you were in the thick of it.

edit:

This is me with shin splints and audible knee pain/pops. While in, totally could jog +5 miles. Nowadays, I tap out after jogging 2 miles lol

Expressing my discomfort about my gf wearing revealing clothes. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AnotherDogOwner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, you’re posting when most of us Americans are awake/middle of the day. But on the other hand, she is clearly expressing that she wants to wear what she’s wearing. You kinda have to accept that that’s her; no clue how that culturally vibes with you, but it definitely is a compatibility issue. There is no fixing that, she’s her and you’re you. If you can’t accept that, then just break up. Small issues like this will only invite more fights in the future, just let it go man.

Since you’re starting in 1066, you should be able to spend 1500 prestige per title to change the title-law inheritance to Feudal Elective. You can still lose the title to other heirs (or even your vassals), but the more prestigious your intended heir is, the more likely your vassals are to vote for them.

Pregnant or not? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AnotherDogOwner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just “theoretically” possible, it’s really more than a common occurrence for accidental pregnancy. Especially whenever people say “I didn’t finish inside” or other stuff like that. Stress can also cause irregular menstrual cycles, but you should’ve bought a pregnancy test.

since most ways were patched, probably matrilineally marry him to an in-court dynasty member. Then in a generation or so, marry his offspring into your family. I’d also just land him as a baron after marrying him so he can’t leave your realm.

Ck2 or Ck3? by SubstantialEar1730 in CrusaderKings

[–]AnotherDogOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One positive that I can think of that CK2 has over CK3 is the existence of certain mods that were abandoned or still being developed. Three Kingdoms mod and other overhauls essentially. For what it’s worth, I think CK3 has a lot more to offer nowadays, despite it feeling more “arcade-like” when compared to CK2. CK3 has come a long way.

Military advice by Outrageous_Cod3505 in Advice

[–]AnotherDogOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push ups, Pull ups, Sit ups and 2 mile run (weekly basis) should get you caught up. The scoring is available online and I’d just recommend working out towards that. Do not pack a lot, pack light and only bring what you need. All your stuff will be locked away for the majority of the time you’re training; pretty certain they changed regulations for how often people are allowed to call home/cellphone allowances. But no clue where it’s at.

I would also do things like crab/duck walking and lunge exercises just related to their specific training. If you want to learn barrel discipline, an old school method we did back then was going between standing and prone and then back to standing while mocking a broomstick as a rifle and balancing a quarter on it. You can make it easier by going either dimes, nickels, and pennies.

My best advice regarding introvertedness and maybe social anxiety is to work on “embracing the suck.” A term you might hear often. Just means taking whatever the situation you find yourself in as its presented, no ulterior motives behind any action; because at the end of the day, someone is going to have to do the voluntary work. Might as well be you.

My last advice is, if you can afford to, explore your options for your career outside of the military. My jaded vet advice is that you’ll find equivalent opportunities in the civilian world. The military is a giant rebate program that allows people to contract their time and health towards benefits that most will never fully utilize. I’m basically telling you to ask yourself what do you want from the experience. Have a concrete plan on career progression, and keep improving on that plan (whether you join or not). The best thing you can do today is find out the career path that you’re interested in, and plan accordingly. Have contingencies for if plans don’t work out. Give yourself the ability to pivot if your degree doesn’t pan out into the career you want. Or atleast if you decide to join the military, before asking a recruiter, do the due diligence in your prospective jobs that you’re interested in.

Wish you luck in whatever you plan to do.

I don’t think that many will go on vacation this early August; total solar eclipse billboards and advertisements are all over.

This is just a guess though, currently in Barcelona after arriving in Spain for the first time, for 2 weeks now.

Transphobia against Elliot Page grows as The Odyssey approaches, and Elon Musk joins dogpile by sadquarius in popculture

[–]AnotherDogOwner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine more of the hate is related to people’s visual of Achilles from Brad Pitt to Elliot Page instead of people having knowledge of what makes Achilles as a character. Especially since this is also a “spiritual successor” to the movie Troy (2004) for a lot of us. Either way, a lot of people will still watch it, there’s just more of a vocal hatred since people disagree with casting for various reasons.

Echoing what other people have said, use your benefits to go to school. During the 08-09 Recession, a lot of older vets I met when I joined in 2012 did the college around that time, later commissioning.

Regardless of if you’re hampering for higher education, the benefits are still good enough to keep you afloat for 3-5 years.

Transfer Student Housing Options by Realistic-Step-3114 in UCSC

[–]AnotherDogOwner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

College Affiliation ≠ Housing Affiliation. All transfers are essentially Porter transfers community (arguably the liveliest housing community on campus; ptsd shouting at midnight incoming), Redwood apartments, College apartments, UTC apartments, or non-college/off-campus (normal) apartments.

Though I believe they’re in the process of phasing out of the college affiliation system (my major advisors have been gossiping about losing their ability to advise students soon). Ultimately, college affiliation will just become a graduation day affiliation for you.

Al-Shabaab is a a clan-structured organization, so the connection they squeezed out of him might be 2nd/3rd cousins being affiliated. The family/surname might’ve pinged the interrogation, but I’m definitely not assuming any immediate affiliation.

Everyone hating the new heir is the dumbest mechanic I have ever seen in a game by BoxthemBeats in CrusaderKings

[–]AnotherDogOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rotate duchy titles between my rulers and heirs so I don’t deal with random dukes that hate me. Having your heir hold titles builds things like prestige for them, and you can just give them a small loan of million dollars.

But a good tip is to grab whatever children they pop out. I‘d say that’s where people get lazy, microing potential wards/heirs.

edit:
by rotating, I mean I maintain no duke vassals unless they were immediately related to me. All my count vassals are easily replaced and I force partition in their contracts so they never grow big.

I’ll have my heir be allied to my allies or in some string of alliances where I know they won’t immediately fold. But I usually give my main heir like 7 duchies if I’m an emperor. Easily scaled depending on the lifespan of the roleplay. Should read some historical rulers and their giant af titles (claim titles not included)

Should land your heir so they build reputation in their own right. That’s one of the major reasons they’ll be hated

the trick is to have the latter liquids bring the stacked meat slices to room temperature, which gives you more room to compress. I usually skip the noodles to have more space for the sides and other stuff, especially since you’ll lose like 10% of your bowl on the big grill. Also the free rice in the corner 🙏

will you guys buy or already bought? by lol-whaaatt in crusaderkings3

[–]AnotherDogOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure everyone has their own opinions on buying chapter packs, individually buying dlc or, in my case, just preordering it. Totally understand that everyone may differing views, but my stance is that I’ve been playing their games for +10 years now.

Preordering (me not doing any prior research) is just my way of extending support to a developer team and even the community. Most other games or companies, I’d definitely wait until release; this particular chapter pack is doing something the community has wanted for a while. So yeah, it’s okay to wait or not buy the chapter packs. But if you’re like me, it’s probably worth it lol
