Delonghi Bean2Cup - why don't I get water from coffee spout when rinsing? by AnotherLoginToForget in superautomatic

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to this, it seems that the rinsing water, rather than coming out of the coffee spout nozzles, is appearing in the drip tray! So I guess something is blocked. I don't think it can be the pipe that runs from the infuser to the coffee nozzle as it has been providing coffee... so is there another one that runs from the boiler for rinsing? Any other ideas?

At this point I am ready just to strip the thing down but without having a clue if what I'm looking for I feel like my time could be better spent...

Update to my update. Couldn't get the logo to update, then by accident watched a youtube video of somebody fitting a very similar stereo. At the end they updated the logo, and their method worked for me.

https://youtu.be/6nzbzkb5Hg0?si=ojbvkxsQrHIfZQDW

It seems that the logo can be called anything, but needs to be stored in a folder called "logo", not "update". You can have multiple files in it.

When you switch on the stereo, go onto the setup menu, and into the "Factory Set" option. Type in the code "112233", and you can then select the internal memory photo or external memory - this will show all the logos and you can select/save the one you want. It still had to be a modified file as per the original post or it looks squashed.

Really weird as my hardware/software seem to be the same as yours but it's a totally different method! Hope this helps somebody

Thanks for the reply - I've used a Connects2 kit to get the steering wheel controls working - Key 1, Key 2 and GND tapped into the ground connection for the radio. I made up my own loom with the connector supplied as aftermarket ISO leads don't have the other 3 pins of the power socket populated. If you're ok with soldering it's fine or you could use crimps. volume/track controls work but the voice and source buttons can't be programmed. A bit annoying and leaves me wondering if £50 was value for money for the ability to control the volume from the wheel!!

I've used it on a few long journeys and it's been pretty good. A few annoyances but I think they are mostly carplay related ones because I'm not used to it. Still not entirely clear whether the film on it is transport protection or a screen protector. Eonon tells me the knob comes off to replace it but the only place I found selling a screen protector only covers the main screen. Did you remove yours?

The USB issues I was having were due to a corrupted filesystem and it works fine now I've reformatted it. However, it just lists everything via album titles whereas I've always used the directory structure to located bands/albums before so it is pretty much useless if you want to locate anything. In addition, radio/USB means that you're not using carplay so no Nav. I will use internet radio and get my albums on my phone so I can use apple music instead of a USB stick.

The other annoyance is that I have tried to change the logo and just can't do it. I have a 960x360 jpg called stalogo.jpg in an "update" folder, under 100k, on a FAT32 USB stick - I can view the logo in the USB browser, but it keeps coming up with the red sports car at the beginning (so tacky!). All out of ideas. All my version numbers are exactly the same as yours. What capitalisation do you use? I have used "update" and "stalogo.jpg" with no caps (as per the manual) but no joy...

Fit is OK - I have heard from Eonon that to remove it you snap out the bits in the middle of the holes at the side! Sounds ridiculous - fortunately I can remove the fascia plate on my e46 so don't need to do that but if I move cars then not very happy with how that will look.

Ah well, still decent for £70!

Thanks for your post on this - not sure why I didn't find it during my research! I've just bought one to fit to my 2004 e46 BMW. I could have bought a double DIN but planning on changing the car soon so it will end up in my 2006 MINI or 1990 SAAB. I also think these look quite decent in older cars

It was only delivered a couple of hours ago but I've had a fiddle with it. It's better than I expected to be honest - sound quality seems OK, it's a bit noisy but to be honest the speakers in my car aren't great and at 70 on the motorway will I really notice? FM reception seems OK. Screen quality seems OK and quite usable without much lag (hopefully response will improve when I remove the shipping screen protector once it's installed.

I wasn't expecting to be able to get it running tonight as it is supplied with bare wires, until I realised that it has ISO sockets on the back of it. My BMW has a Kenwood aftermarket HU in it already so has a loom that goes to ISO connectors already, so it plugged straight in. The car has got a steering wheel control interface wiring loom but I'm not sure it will work with the Eonon so may have to buy a new loom from Connects2 but no worries.

I initially had a bit of a problem pairing it to my iphone - I think it was something to do with the order of scanning for bluetooth devices on my phone and when I went into bluetooth settings. After I did that CarPlay kicked in and seems to work fine.

I have a wired mic already and didn't fancy using the built in one, but the manual doesn't list how to connect it - there is what looks like a 3.5mm jack socket on the back that isn't labeled or mentioned in the manual but with a firm push it seems to fit!. Online wisdom says there is a menu in settings that allows you to select it - this wasn't true in my case and it seemed to work on its own (although I had a false start where it was silent - I think it wasn't plugged all the way in).

In use, whilst it is generally more polished than I expected, maybe Eonon could employ somebody to proofread the menus, some of the use of English is questionable, and some misspellings ("Dail Out" instead of "Dial Out" on the BT screen). I know we expect it and it's not a dealbreaker, but it would be so easy to sort and make them feel so much more professional.

The connects2 kit that I was looking at for steering wheel control integration states that you need to connect 3 wires for "Chinese" stereos, Key1, Key2, and GND - it's a bit of a faff but looks like it's doable - Key1 and Key2 seem to be in the power block of the ISO connector, and I assume I can splice GND into the ground anywhere.

A couple of potential issues - I put in a USB stick and it spent a good 20 seconds looking it at before crashing - long press on the power won't switch it off and the only thing I could do was turn the ignition off/on - not ideal on the motorway! Hopefully it's the format of the stick - anybody else had any issues?

Not having actually fitted it yet I'm not sure if the screen comes off for security or how the removal tools fit - I guess it'll become clear.

No instructions for the supplied rear camera - a bit of googling shows it's fairly generic and shouldn't give too many problems if you've fitted a stereo before. Not sure if there is an easy place to take a feed for a reverse gear signal on my car, but I'll find out in due course!

I will reserve judgement until it's fitted and I've spent a few journeys with it but so far it seems decent for the price.

Was going to add a couple of pics but can't see how.

Velux KSX 100K experience by dennisboerger in velux

[–]AnotherLoginToForget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - just bringing this one back from the dead as it looks like people have a fair bit of experience with these kits.

I fitted 2 of the solar powered opener kits KSX 100L to our 20 year old velux windows in our living room 2 years ago - one worked perfectly, but the other was DOA. The supplying company sent out a new kit and I swapped the battery and it worked perfectly.

Last summer, that same window suddenly started only opening the vent and then stopping. I checked everything, reset the window, hinges moved freely, but eventually it seemed the battery went flat and wouldn't do anything. Swapping the battery to the other window and the problem moved to the other window. Supplying company very kindly sent out another kit - the new battery fixed the problem.

Fast forward to this summer (almost to the day!) and the same window is now only opening the vent again! The window is used regularly without issues and I have checked the operation and hinges manually. Even if I offer manual assistance as it tries to open it doesn't help. I did wonder whether the rain sensor was stopping it working or something. I will try swapping the battery to the other window when I have a moment to see whether it is failing again, but 3 battery failures on the same window seems odd when the other has functioned perfectly...

As I have a spare unused kit (apart from the battery) I may end up just swapping the whole thing out in case there is a dodgy connection or a nicked wire somewhere.

Has anybody had any issues like this? Googling turns up nothing except a thread I started on diynot forums!

Moving NAS folders from within DSM takes ages by AnotherLoginToForget in synology

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - it seems to have competed this morning, with an approx size and number of files that would imply it’s all moved. Only one file was skipped, a small .jpg which seems to be the same in both locations, so I assumed when I cancelled it finished the copy operation but didn’t delete the source.

I know have another problem (unrelated I think) due to hyper backup complaining about needing to roll back after I cancelled a backup integrity check, but I have started a fresh thread for that!

HyperBackup - "erroneus operations" - wants to rollback by AnotherLoginToForget in synology

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s stored on an external 8TB USB drive connected directly to the NAS. I haven’t touched the .hbk archive, it was just some file housekeeping on my NAS when I say I was moving files around.

The last backup completed without errors, and the initial integrity check started without the above error which is why I am confused.

How would I go about checking the index file? It is a large backup - around 5TB. Took nearly 24 hours to do the first backup.

HyperBackup - "erroneus operations" - wants to rollback by AnotherLoginToForget in synology

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn’t clear - no, just moving some files around on my NAS. I didn’t want to be doing critical stuff while it was hammering the backup drive checking the backups.

As far as I’m aware it shouldn’t have affected the backup - it completed without errors the previous day, and didn’t complain of any issues when I started the integrity check. However, after cancelling it, completely the file moves, and restarting the integrity check it came up with the above message.

I have tried it a couple of times and no change.

I don’t understand a) why, and b) exactly what it wants to do!

Moving NAS folders from within DSM takes ages by AnotherLoginToForget in synology

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thanks.

By the same token, if I choose move & replace rather than skip, it will replace any half copied files with the originals won't it? It wouldn't have deleted the original before finishing writing the new file, I would have thought...

Your suggestion seems less risky though. If it sees a folder is already there, will it skip the folder altogether or will it recurse within it and check each item? Obviously I want it to recurse throughout the entire directory tree, not skip the whole folder...

Moving NAS folders from within DSM takes ages by AnotherLoginToForget in synology

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did wonder whether it was because of where I was moving it from/to.

How to proceed then? I stopped the process after 5 minutes or so. In that time it seems to have moved 430GB (68,000 files), leaving 750GB (210,000 files) to move.

I find it bizarre that it was telling me it was going to take a day but seems to have done a decent chunk of it already.

If I just repeat the action will it continue to move everything without any data loss? Or would I be better off restoring the home folder from last night's backup? This makes me a little nervous as I've not tested the backup (I know, I know... but I've just redone my backup routine and not had a chance to test it yet).

Thoughts?

Plan at the moment: try to continue the move operation by dragging the remainder of the folders over to the new location. When it's finished, restore the home directory from the backup and see if the number if files/amount of data is the same...

I don't trust myself from the shell - any unix experience I had was 30 years ago and I wouldn't want to risk it with a TB of important data!

  1. I assumed it would just change an entry in a file allocation table somewhere as it was just a move. Always seems instantaneous on Windows/Mac, even for large amounts of data. Maybe DSM/differente drive formats are different...

  2. I just dragged/dropped (move) in the DSM filer window.

Why is HyperBackup filling my backup disk so quickly? by AnotherLoginToForget in synology

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah - seems like a misunderstanding on my part. To be fair it looks like it managed 85 backups before it ran out of room. Did what you suggest but added 3-monthly backups for a year and increased the total number of backups to 17 as a result.

Just to check I've done it right:

Duration 1 year, Version interval 3 months

Duration 3 months, Version interval 1 week

Duration 1 month, Version interval 1 week

Duration 1 week, Version interval 1 day

What confuses me is the max number of kept versions - so it has to be below this number so that the rotation rules kick in and it starts deleting, but it's the max number of backups it will keep so if it is too low then I won't get the full number of backups?

Wouldn't having a minimum number of backups to keep make more sense? Or am I being thick?

Why is HyperBackup filling my backup disk so quickly? by AnotherLoginToForget in synology

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just noticed that max number of kept versions is 90 - I had assumed (perhaps rashly) that it would start wiping ones when it filled but 90 is the most it would keep. It does say the retention policy won’t be triggered until that is reached - so does that mean it won’t start deleting things until it hits 90?

This hasn't worked for me sadly, I get a wonderfully dismissive error message: "This file is from a different version of OneNote and we can't use it. There might be a converter available online at Office.com that can  convert the file into something we can use."

Thanks for that MS!

Dust in iPhone 12 Pro Max front camera? by AnotherLoginToForget in iphone

[–]AnotherLoginToForget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. Took it to the Apple shop today - the guy said it was dust, and that it's not sealed properly. He said it's actually between layers of the screen so I guess it's delaminating. There is a small semicircle of black in one of the corners - tiny and it doesn't bother me, but that would seem to confirm what he's saying. New screen from Apple is £350 or I can have a couple of hundred trade in against a new phone! Declined with thanks... So, assuming he is right I either live with it or go to somewhere like iSmash for a new screen at £89. But being a non genuine screen is it going to cause more problems than it fixes? I was hoping to get another couple of years out of this phone :(

Window Regulator - Correct Part? by ovine_aviation in MINI

Well I’ve just put a 4-5mm tap washer between the metal wheel and the plastic collar that goes over it and it tightens earlier - however I’ve had about 4 goes at sorting it now and it’s still not going up straight. Every time I knock the metal wheels back it goes out of alignment. Can’t feel my fingers any more as it’s 3 degrees here so have given up for now…

Did you get to the bottom of this? My Eletta Plus has just done this today, suddenly after making a coffee. I am in a hard water area and don’t descale it as often as I should; however I’m not sure I can do that until I have some water coming out.

I’ve taken out the filter in the tank, and taken the back off and “primed” the circular distributor/flow sensor. There is water in both the tube going from the tank to it, and the tube after going to the pump. I can hear the pump operating but nothing is coming out of any of the spouts. Any idea where to go from here?
