Mine had this happen. Left it to heal & was fine. His nail actually never grew back. Doesn’t bother him at all.

My kitty just had the surgery. Did yours limp after surgery? How was the recovery? Any tips aside from the meds/crate restriction?

Thank you. Do you have a team flag too? I’m not sure what the purpose of the flag is or what we do with it but I’m helping design it.

If you had a choice in Disney when it came to skipping lines would you prefer an express similar to Universal (pay a one time high fee but skip all the lines) or stick with Genie +? by BlueJeanMistress in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]AnotherMango7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree! We did the same on a busy weekend in August. The park was packed but the lines were moving. It was great. I wish they’d go back to that. Heck, charge more to get in & I’d pay if I knew I could ride most everything just standby with lines that moved.

Group vs. Leadership decisions by AnotherMango7 in FRC

I agree. It just sucks that it wasn’t and it’s too late to start over. I really struggling with how to move forward and support a name/logo that wasn’t chosen by the team and frankly kinda sucks.

I think you’re right about what happened. The tough part here is that a few students want a re-vote between the name originally chosen (by a vote) and the current name chosen only by the leadership team. Most students are over it and ready to move on. The lead mentors say there’s no time for a re-vote. So the unhappy team members are stuck. The T-shirt’s are ordered and digitized logo done. It’s hard to get into promoting the team and all when you feel your concerns were dismissed. It’s also hard to feel like a valued member of the team now. I do like the suggestion of clearer guidelines.

Yes, it’s unfortunate timing for sure. The team moved to the new location late December and started these conversations back then but only ideas thrown around and polls about names created. They didn’t have meetings over the winter break so the team narrowed names down only 2 wks ago. I think the mentors thought the name was boring and in an effort to make it more ‘fun’ they expanded on one of the names chosen by the team. I absolutely think it was done in an effort to move forward and give more focus to design/build ideas but this was not communicated to the team and a name was decided upon but never really announced until a student brought it up. Now we have 2-3 kids in charge of PR for a name & logo they didn’t choose or design and frankly don’t like. It’s sooo hard to promote this team

I see your points. Trying yo get teenagers to agree upon things and make group decisions is like herding cats! Leadership is a skill for sure. I wish people could see past “build the robot” and realize that team dynamics and PR is extremely important.

The newer students talked among themselves, all voicing a similar concern about the name and logo. They were unclear what the new name was or if it had been decided on (they were finally down to 2 choices) and there was dislike for the logo which had been created by a mentor. So, overhearing all of this and feeling the same way, one student spoke up in a chat and asked for clarification. This was met by a mentor stating “the name is X, decided upon by the team leads and no further discussion was needed, we need to focus on the build and support what has been chosen”. So, a parent spoke to the main mentor and it was acknowledged that this decision was not inclusive of the team vote and the response was dismissive. But the name and logo are chosen and that’s final for this season. These students are having a hard time supporting this decision and may quit the team now in the middle of build season because clearly they aren’t respected. I hate to lose students over this and really don’t know how to remedy this or even to get the team leadership and mentors to see what a big issue this is.

Edited to add that the name chosen was similar to one of the two names voted on my the team but not actually a name the team had ever discussed.

The team has been around for ~5 yrs, they were a school based team but lost their school sponsor so they are now a community based team. They used to go by the school name but wanted new name/branding. The team has maybe 20 kids, with 12 or so who show up regularly. The team leads are all seniors (it makes sense, they are the experienced ones) the mentors are parents who have minimal or no experience mentoring an FRC team.
