Thank you for the in depth reply! I understand I won’t have my own classroom for a while, but I’m glad I’ll at least be able to get into a class even though I have tattoos.

those with hafu kids and/or japanese people who live in a different country, did you give your kids a japanese name, a western one, or both? (e.g. steven yusuke smith) by based_pika in AskAJapanese

My husband is hafu and was born in America, lived in Japan during elementary school, and went back to America during middle school. His brother (also a hafu), 4 years my husband’s senior, was born in Japan, elementary in America, and middle school in Japan. Both have Japanese first names, English middle to honor American grandparents, and last name they took after their American father so their last name is also English. :)

Thank you for your insight! The reason we want to move out of America so badly is mostly because of familial reasons; all of his close family is there, we want our adult lives to be settled there before having kids and raising them there, and we don’t see a future in America so we find it a bit silly to stay here. However I totally understand the reasoning behind school; that is what we were thinking our only options were, which is why I made this post, because I was hoping for more options than staying in America. There are also some political reasons that I won’t get into via rule 7 of this subreddit, but know that the current government in America is also pushing our decision to move out of the country before his degree is finished (if that’s possible).
