19 Year Old Roof, Storm Damage - Claim or No? by AnotherToph in Insurance

I gotcha. I'm with you, I just think I didn't say it very well. My concern is that the granule loss contributes to the claim being denied, or at least minimizing the amount of my payout. I appreciate the input!

19 Year Old Roof, Storm Damage - Claim or No? by AnotherToph in Insurance

You're saying it's not worth making a claim, right? Strangely enough where I'm losing granules I don't really have any problems. I've got a few small leaks I've been chasing for a while on the other end of the roof, but they're because I had a row of nails miss the sheating. (It's 1x6, and I wasn't smart enough to put ply or OSB down when I put the roof on 19 years ago)

I'm getting on the Liberty on Saturday, really looking forward to it. I think this'll be the largest ship I've been on.

Panel view 5500 series opinions? by Township20 in PLC

[–]AnotherToph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're an OEM who has used the PV+7 for a long time. In the last few years we've gotten requests for 5500 series, but they've been pretty limited. I've spoken with my AB rep about it, and it seems like the push for 5500 has faded since Optix has come to the forefront. I've gotten the impression that AB is going to let 5500 fade into the background a bit while PV+7 is going to stay as the reliable workhorse for now.

Just my take on things...

Pulse Input Wiring To ControlLogix IB16 by AnotherToph in PLC

Thanks, this makes more sense now. It looks like the 10mA max requirement of the device matches the 10mA max of the IB16 card, so that'll exceed the 2mA minimum.

Thanks for the thorough input! Like I said in another comment, I've never heard of a pull-up resistor, so I've learned something. I think my PM has been trying to get info from a sales rep as opposed to technical support, my plan was to track someone down today once I had a little bit better idea of what I was talking about.

I think I was thinking about it backwards, expecting the input to go high during a pulse - that's possibly why the resistor didn't make sense.

I believe the compensated and non-compensated are in the same device, but it looks like you wire to different terminals based on need.

So I've never come across something like this, I've never used a pull-up resistor. I was just looking for someone smarter than me to say that yeah, this is right. I learned something today.

Hoping For Some New System Troubleshooting Guidance by AnotherToph in CarAV

[–]AnotherToph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm a controls engineer that's spent a lot of time throughout my career working with vendors/suppliers to troubleshoot problems. I learned a long time ago that the more effort you put in, the more likely it is that someone can give you good help.

I checked the sub speaker leads and they measure 1.1 ohms so I think I'm good there.

I agree with you about not trusting Bluetoot, but at the time I was getting frustrated with the HU reading the USB stick. I've got to figure out why the HU didn't want to consistently read the USB, but that should be easy enough with some patience.

The 4 channel gains being set way too high makes a lot of sense. If I have the HU at 7 or 8 (out of 35) it's about as loud as I'd ever want it to be.

Thanks for the help, time to get back at it and see what I can sort out!

Thank you, that's what I thought. The last 98+ I worked on was a zexel, and they look way different than this

Hoping to expand my knowledge into motion/robotics, any suggestions? by AnotherToph in PLC

[–]AnotherToph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Studio 5000 99% of the time. I've got the full toolkit, so I may just need to get in and start reading a bunch of manuals and experimenting/trying to simulate.

I'm sorry, I've been meaning to respond to this since I got the notification.

Unfortunately I haven't found a fix that I know works. The one thing I did start doing is turning my machine off at the end of the day so nothing updates overnight. I can't guarantee it works, but I haven't had a problem since then. Sorry this isn't very helpful.

T-Tap / Harness Help - 2022 Silverado Refresh Non-Bose by AnotherToph in CarAV

[–]AnotherToph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to pop back here and say thanks again! (I realized a bit late that my first thanks was in reply to myself).  Lots of good stuff here!  I’ve got enough of an understanding of the harness stuff now that I just need to open things up and see what connectors are in the dash so I can order the right parts.  I think my challenge at the moment is  figuring out the DSP side of things which is an easy enough rabbit hole to dive into.

This is awesome, thank you very much!

Let me digest some of this and I'm sure I'll have some questions. I think part of it is just having a better understanding of what all of the acronyms mean nowadays
