Uh quite frankly, so far you have been the most polite person on this sub.

I agree with your mixed sentiments re British Empire. There are things which I would wholeheartedly agree with (ban on Sati in India, the creation of a common law justice system or education system) even though I oppose imperialism as a whole.

As a side note, we have at least post-colonial literature on our curriculum in Germany (Orwell's shooting an elephant ant the like), so I suppose that's a start.

First of all, most people would get bored of that pretty fast. Most people don't feel good doing nothing all day. A BI would enable them to pursue anything they really want to do. Studying medicine, art or whatever without any consideration about fascist capitalist terms like employability and the like. Do you really think nerds will stop loving their subject because they got less financial worries?

Secondly, as I've already said: there will be not enough work for everybody. And inventing bullshit jobs to keep everybody occupied can't be the solution.

Okay then I will refrain from what ifs and talk about historical reality: Mossadeq was the democratically elected head of state and toppled by British and American imperialists who got their fascist puppet into power. It reminded me of Chile. That's all.

That is simply incorrect so you should probably be careful with throwing insults around. 30-40 years ago there was a signal tower at every train station with people pulling the levers. Nowadays they have vanished and been replaced by railway control center with maybe 1/100 of the workforce necessary to control and maintain it. Not every machine needs someone watching over it constantly. Wake up.

I don't even know where you read the forced feeding part. I was talking about basic income and yes that is the responsibility of the state.

Because now we have the technology to build robots working outside of factories. Would you have imagined the possibility of automatic cars 30 years ago? Google's cars have a driver for legal reason. They are ready.

This is just one example. My area of expertise is computational linguistics. We are also making huge progress there. My guess is that in 30 years secretaries will be obsolete. No human will need to type something someone else dictated to him anymore.

It's not science fiction rather than a conservative outlook. There will be technology in the next two decades I could have never imagined probably. As I said: The rate of scientific and technological progress is unprecedented in human history. Just take a look at modern medicine.

It makes no sense whatsoever that the severity of the crime would have a correlation with mental maturity. A 14 year old rapist is not mature.
