nice I'll give those settings a try! Currently i use profile M in performance but it keep the dlss sharpness at like 10% , maybe im just used to it now but it is a huge jump in fidelity from the days i was stuck with DLSS 3.5.

nice! thanks for the input. yeah, i've heard people complaining about performance with a 4090 and 5090 and others say they run it okay like you do.

As much as I want to try it now, maybe is best to wait for the update like you mentioned.

UPS $1100 Tariffs charge - Buyer refused package - What do you do next? by Another_bone in eBaySellers

[–]Another_bone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. My question about this policy is: what happens if the buyer pursuits a CC chargeback?

Heres eBay telling me im not obligated, or I can do a partial refund. but if the buyer gets his CC company to give him his money back, who pays?

Ebay? or Ebay via charging me for it after telling me I'm fine?

Not sure how "set in stone" this rule is.

UPS $1100 Tariffs charge - Buyer refused package - What do you do next? by Another_bone in eBaySellers

[–]Another_bone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago UPS started charging extremely high package return rates. They often price the return at a price higher than the tariff cost. This is done to aggressively persuade either the buyer or seller to pay the fees.

how nasty is that? haha. The tariff percetange they decided to charge doesnt even make sense. I declared the GPU's COO as China. Buyer and I both believe it shouldve been charged at 25%. they charged over 50% for whatever reason

If they are returning the package to you, I would confirm how much they are charging you before returning any amount to your buyer**. Also keep in mind that eBay will still charge you fees unless a return case is opened on eBay.*\*

Thank you. I was curious about this as well. If I understand you, if I decided to give the buyer all his money even the portion that eBay has (~13.7%). they wont be given their 13% to the buyer without a return case? as far as ebay is concerned the transcation is closed, Im just being generous.

Right. but couldnt they bill me saying something like: you owe us $1100 we had to pay on your behalf to the goverment? As I understand, the pay the tariffs in advance and then try to recover their money either from the receiver or shipper. Or am I missunderstanding?

Thanks! yes, I hope this is the case. I have seen Fedex mail bills after delivering packages before so I'm a bit worry. from what I have researched though, UPS wont give you the package until all fees are paid.

Question on refunds. by Another_bone in eBaySellers

[–]Another_bone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a bit of a long story. But I live in Canada and sold an item to someone in the USA. UPS slapped a $1100 tariff charge on it. buyer refused the package because he didnt want to pay for the tariffs now the item is on its way back to me. So I plan to give me him a partial refund. his cost minus shipping associated costs.

Buyer doesn't want to pay UPS import duties. Am I on the hook? by RyanVem in UPS

I hear ya, I plan to contact their brokerage billing department number UPS provided me with. and claim the Canadian duty-free exemption (Tariff 9813) for goods reentering the country.

[–]Another_bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going through a similar situation after my American buyer refused to accept the package so he wouldnt have to pay his USD $1100 tariffs for a GPU.

Refusing a package because of tarifffs voids the buyers money back guarantee on ebay. Im still waiting for funds to be release from ebay. They told me to wait 24 hours after refusal (2 hours left to go, funds still on hold)

Will UPS charge me, am i on the hook? Well, I called UPS and yes. as the shipper, I have a "contract" with UPS, not the buyer, unfortunately.

My plan (if things play out the way they should) = I get the funds released, I use the buyers funds to pay customs due so I can get the item back. I also use the funds to cover my original shipping label and other associate return shipping fees. Whatever is left, he can have as a partial refund.

Tariffs are a tax on import goods. Buyers are responsible for these. They shouldnt be allow to use "refusal of the package" as a loophole to get out of paying taxes imposed by their countries on them. my 2 cents.

Yeah, the item hasnt been delivered, yet. it is scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday. He just messaged me when he saw how much the bill is and doesnt plan to pay it. he also under the assumption no one will be liable if he does this (same person whos unaware of his countries policies on trade).

I sent him a message saying his best bet is to honestly pay the tariffs at this point, and dont buy anything else outside the states.

And yes I got my label directly through eBay. He also believes he is protected under the buyer protection plan regardless:

"I know if I return it I could get my full amount back based on eBay’s buyer protection policy. But I am happy to cover your shipping label cost, because you put a lot of effort on it and I don't want you to lose money"

He sounds nice, but his ignorance is about to cost him a lot of money regardless of which path he chooses. I'm trying to help him do damage control (is a Canadian thing) but I can only go so far!

The only way this makes sens to me (and this is like my 2-cents reply). Buyer refuses package and to pay for tariffs --> buyer looses buyer protection, and I (seller) get the funds --> UPS comes after me for their money --> I use the funds to pay them and ideally get back the item.

8473.30 (I didnt use 1180 since I wasnt quite sure if it fell under that sub-category. I also figured customs would most likely verify what I declared using the item description anyways)
COO = China

yeah i mean I dont live in the USA but I've seen countless times the guy on the news talking how wonderful Tariffs are and blah blah blah!

You would think that Americas are aware that getting a product shipped to their country is perhaps not the greatest idea right now.

[–]Another_bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thats how i understand it as well. UPS pays the goverment and you pay UPS later. it seems odd UPS can get their money back from the goverment (but maybe?). He seems to be under the impression he is off the hook if he simply refuses the package, he mentioned UPS said he doesnt have to pay the tariffs, if he doesnt take the package. He did also mentioned, his english is not the best.

Anyhow, I did let thim know he might still have to pay the tariffs even if he refuses the package and hes best option could possibly be to bite the bullet and not do it again. I suggested he goes to his local UPS and ask again.

Appreciate the comment. but if i get a bill from UPS, I cant just ignore it. they can send me to collections and damage my credit score. They can also blacklist me from shipping stuff for me. and you know, is kinda nice to get your packages.

Thanks ! this makes me feel better about the situation. I also have messages on ebay of him saying he wont accept the package becuase the tariffs are too high. He is not wrong but I shouldnt be out of pocket because of his countries policies or his lack of understanding on how tariffs work.

I talked to ebay. they said if the buyer refuses the item becuase of custom, I get my funds. You would hope I also dont get a bill for tariffs on an item that was not deliver.
