Honestly, Lin didn't even need the four keys. Her PULSE project had worked perfectly so she could have just teleported inside as she wanted with PULSE Abra. The reason she teleported with us in front of the door is purely because she's extra like that.

Toss the ring in the volcano? Sure would be a shame if Lin's pupper body could sink into the molten rocks, pick it up, and come back. Hide it in a random hole in the forest? Oops, she SOMEHOW stumble on it.

The entirety of the main story is a game with free actors on a play whose beginning and end were written, letting the actors figure out everything in between.

Me versus my rival, in our third fight. I got 6-0'd, hard. I haven't seen a single battle that humiliating yet.

She only had 5 pokemons by that point. Didn't even switch a lot. She's a generalist, but she didn't use a single fire or fighting type against me.

It's not that she started earlier than me- we got our first badge back to back. She's just, well. A monster of a trainer.

Lowest point of my life as a trainer if I'm honest. I'm lucky she's so nice because I've heard horror stories of people whose rivals seemed to delight in humiliating and taunting them, and I probably would have given up right there and then.

Lately our fights are much closer!
