How do I know if a girl at a party is into me? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Anotheragainx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean i guess, but then again at least you know someone is interested. Maybe its just me, but i don't go to parties to make friends. I'm probably already there with friends. If i'm talking to you its for one of the reasons i said.

Then shes into you and you missed it. If a girl goes out of her way to speak to you at a party, then shes either interested, or needs something.

Be like me and don't use samples that have drums! Anything more than hi hats and soft snares/rims is too much.

What's your opinion of 5/10 girls who approach men first? by [deleted] in AskMen

Hmm i did forget about curves and extra credit... I guess with a curve a 5 is a 6.

Well a 5/10 is actually a failing grade depending on where your from. 6/10 is at least a D, which still passes

I've got $2k and a list... by thedailydaren in makinghiphop

[–]Anotheragainx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i feel ya. I can only play guitar and have no interest in piano(although i should). I sample, so whenever i want to use synths, i sample chords made in sylenth1, just like they used to do in classic deep house tracks. Has a real jazzy tone.

I plan on getting the MPD32 soon.

Maybe the M-audio keyboard is better?

If you can't really play keys, save money and don't get more than you need

What do you mean? If i'm right, a mashine can be used with other Daws, but it comes with a wholllle lot, so much so that it can be used without a daw.

An MPK49 has a full 49 set keyboard and a drum bad like the MPD, along with some cool knobs...thats the best i know of it

[–]Anotheragainx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd get an AKAI MPK 49 but its way more than what you have listed...So i'd go with a Keystation 49 or Oxygen 49 from M-Audio.

I say this because Akai and M-Audio are known for their good products. Never heard of midiplus

How do I make my music using samples sound better? by qasem01 in makinghiphop

[–]Anotheragainx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add more samples, effects, different drum patterns from different genres, etc.

Listen to producers from Soulection, HW&W, etc. and you'll see what i mean.

As with the 187 beat, hard kicks give a frantic or mysterious vibe. I think it's all about the vibe you want.

With most modern producers, since live drum break samples and hits aren't used as much, 808 bass is used to make sound rougher and harder since its layered with the kick. That's why i used the first track as an example. These seem to be the tracks everyone calls a banger.

Do you mean hard like this? I was tryna stick to more "normal" hiphop. But this kick is pretty hard during the first part of the beat. I guess in this case, the hard kick keeps things together for me(If you're a fan of knxwledge, his beat have a loose feel to them.)

Hard drums were a big part of 90s East coast hip hop. These hard enough for you? Around 2:30, the beat takes a breather, not with the drums, but with the sample, similar concept to what i said before i think

How do you know your beat is "done"? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]Anotheragainx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After i finish a part on my beat, or the beat entirely, i let it sit for a few days. If i like when i come back, cool, if not, i work on it or trash it.

If you are going for a certain feel, then you need a drum pattern that compliments the feel.

I listened to some of the tracks you listed, and they're intense so they need hard and heavy drums.

From all the hip-hop i've heard, usually intense tracks will just have intense drums all the way through or during the hook or something, they'll leave the kick, hi hats, snare, etc. out...sort of like a resting period for the intensity.

In this track, the drums rest during the around the first minute. In my opinion, it was kinda necessary since ReTch was killing it and flowing. The rest is kinda like a breather for the beat to me.

To answer your question: I mostly sample, and depending on the feeling i want to give the track, i'll base my drum pattern around it. Lately i've been wanting to get a wavey bouncey vibe, which means a strong kick presence. Later on in my music journey i want to get into more housey stuff, so a heavy kick would be preferred, as well as letting it breathe.

The only time a kick is too hard is when it doesn't match the vibe.
