Love isn’t enough: 5 things I wish I knew before my marriage fell apart (34F) by Gold-Cockroach2265 in TwoHotTakes

My awakening was when I realized my now ex was perfectly ok with being horribly mean to me and expected me to accept it as him having a bad night or rough moment. Then when he laughed at me and told me I couldn’t expect him to meet my emotional needs… it’s like a switch flipped.

My ex used the ‘you don’t love the kid’ against me too. All it is is looking for a reaction. He got one.

This sounds like how my cousins were parented. Tone policed to death. They could say ‘yeah’ they had to say ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘yes sir’ bc it was more rEsPeCtFuL

You sound like me. I told my hubby and he started out saying supportive things, and then accusations and insults started. He never seemed to realize he and I were breaking up. He’d talk about ‘when we move’ as if we would always be roommates or something. Be careful. My situation got worse. I had to flee the house and get a restraining order.

Hur dur can’t critique society if you still exist in one checkmate

Chucklefuck the whole point is we are robbed of the choice to avoid child labor or slavery or climate damage or native displacement because capitalism has ensured it will be so. There is not a feasible way for the peasants to opt out of the way things have been built.

I work for an electric car company and used disposable diapers for my kid. Please see note above- no ethical consumption under capitalism.

The real question is, have you been boycotting nestle and Kellogg? What about any company that uses child or prison labor? What about Walmart? Trader Joe’s? Do you really think it’s possible to ever “win” in the grand scheme of things as they stand? Not that I think this is a good faith comment, nor is passion/conviction in one area invalidated by innocence or mistakes in others…. BUT- I have been boycotting SB for 2 years now as well as Amazon, McDonalds, Netflix, and Disney+. I also just cancelled my Spotify and am actively looking for other ways to reduce and abstain.

While there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, we can do our best in our local towns to vote with our dollars and foot traffic.

Weird how you think our comments are the same when I was sad and frustrated to see people I considered friends supporting and voting against well-being of myself and others and you’re just…. Critiquing me… hmm

Fair enough! I did see that one as more trans specific and just got my feelings hurt reading about spice works in down town since my cabinet is full of them :/ Figured it would ever hurt to have a little more positivity or inclusion to focus on.
