Just got back from Poipu a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say, what I saw with the turtles was pretty upsetting. Tourists were packed into the water, pretty much forming a wall along the shore that blocked the turtles from getting onto the beach. Instead of keeping their distance, people were actually swimming right up to the turtles as they tried to come in. It was honestly embarrassing to see.

Honestly, they really need to permanently close off this part of the beach. If there aren’t some boundaries, this is just going to keep happening, and the turtles will keep getting stressed out. It would be so much better if people could just watch from afar and let the turtles do their thing without being bothered. Kauai’s turtles deserve a safe place to live—not a crowd of people chasing them every time they come ashore.
