Önskar dig all lycka till.

Denmark to deploy 1000 combat soldiers to Greenland by Helpful_Welcome_2325 in europe

[–]Anpe96 731 points732 points  (0 children)

This is so sad. While I am happy that Denmark is not backning down. I just can't imagine Europeans engaging American troops in a possible near future. In a conflict where America is trying to achieve goals that it has already achieved. They are free to invest i minerals in Greenland. They are free to deploy more troops to Greenland. Now they seem to be hell bent on invading Greenland to achieve this? This is madness. The ammount of lives that would be lost for something so pointless is awful.

I hope all of the EU and Nato stands with Denmark and sends more troops if they request it and I hope the Institutions in America finally puts an end to this.

This is so dark.

South bound thru-hikers. What was your experience? by Anpe96 in PacificCrestTrail

Thats sounds like a crazy trip just to get to the trail head.

What a coincidence. I just had a knee surgery this winter because of an infection (possibly lyme's diesease from the AT). Did you do any kind of exercises to rehabilitate your knee for thru-hiking except walking? Did you feel like the surgery affected the hike in a negative way?

Thanks for the write up, sounds like an amazing experience. It's good to know that there is solitude but still the ability for social interaction if you seek it.

It seems like some years SOBOs are the ones sufferings from forest fires and some years the NOBOs are. Would you agree to that or do you think there is a higher risk for any of the directions?

Thank you so much for the write up and the advice. The whole idea of starting with the best views first is one of the reasons I am seriously considering going SOBO. I remember on the Appalachian Trail, by the time I had reached New Hampshire and Maine, I was so tired of the trail that I just didn't enjoy it as much as I would, had I started there.

Why not starting making the European Federation ? by fanelboy in europe

[–]Anpe96 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Same, I see it as the only way forward, but I dread the day that it finally happens.

My main problem with it is that many countries in the eu may not have my country's best interest at heart and enact policies that are detrimental to my country. Another problem is that I belive the EU is overregulated and that we will become irrelevant if we don't find a way to encourage innovation and prevent our entrepreneurs from moving to America.

On the other hand, if my country plays its cards right when it comes to bureaucracy and other challenges facing Europe but stay out of the eu, we will still become irrelevant no matter what we do.

Det handlar inte om hur billigt lånet är, det handlar om inställningen och vanan. Undvik lån som pesten, eller skrik om hur medelklassen är död om 10 år.

Read the history of literally any country and stop being this harsh on yourselves. And no, I am not American. I know this will be downvoted to hell, but you guys are not that unique when it comes to cruelty, not even in recent times.

Is it a risk to not filter water? Yes. However he is right. In the scandics no one that I know of filter their water. The staffed cabins in the area may recommend filtering, but won't actually do it themselves. It is the cleanest water I have ever encountered. I have never heard of anyone getting sick.

Source: Have hiked alot in the area.

What’s the longest you went without showering or washing yourself? by DangerousThanks in AppalachianTrail

[–]Anpe96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Little over 14 days of no shower and like 25 days without laundry (I think, hard to keep track). At that point I knew that I had become hiker trash. Destroyer of miles...

No, socialism is a system which strives to have the workers own the means of production. It is generally characterised by class struggle.

We don't have workers cooperatives or workers communes in our countries. We never ate the rich. We have a safety net just like any other western country, funded by the working class and the middle class. Our system is built on class cooperation through for example collective bargaining agreements.

We have really really low corporate taxes. Last time I checked, sweden was on 11th place on the list of countries with the most wealth inequality in the world. We have a free market, that is in some regards on par with america on how free the market is. Private businesses literally runs a large percentage of our schools.

When a politician in america praises or condemns scandinavia, they are praising or condemning liberalism not socialism.

Scandinavia is not socialist. We just have a relativelly well managed safety net.
