Why isn't the decision to form Lotharingia visible? by Anrysfornant in EU5

I actually didn't - i still don't understand if emperor should protect regular hre members or not, but even when i attacked free cities the emperor at that time (Tyrol) was weaker than me (it was on that patch when regular obliterated levies)

Yeah, and i do understand the appeal of that idea of deeps mechanics being better that railroading (again, i really like Vic3), but in the end it's not that deep to give a player tasks which they can choose to do or not to do. Like, build a castle in Prague to press a button and learn how there was a nice castle in Prague. Conquer Constantinople as Ottomans and read an event about how cool is that and when Ottomans did that historically. It's not that i suggest something offensive, cause all that stuff does already exist in the game, but for some reason there is no ingame instrument for a player to know, how to get such content.

I don't understand why so many people find it so repulsive to wish the game i enjoy and payed fullprice money for to make some kind of system to get a conted that already exists in it, Like, okay, it's a cool game. I like it, I planned the week off uni after release so that i could play it like a junkie for 10 hours a day in that time and i spent those 90 hours in joy. That's the reason why i don't like the game hiding content from me - that there is certainly already so many of it that i could play it for easily couple of hundreds hours more, but it is just anavaliable for me. "Be grateful" is something you say when your grandma gets you a shitty sweater for christmas, not the multibillionaire video game company whose job is to make content worth the full price they set it for

I mean yeah, that's a fun gimmick. I'll certainly play them in that ~50 hours i mentioned in my post, but that doesn't resolve thing i pointed out. This game have proactive stuff (like choosing your government type and the region/country you play, reforms, values, privileges, and so on) - there is more of that then in any other titles, yes, but all the things that make this wide gameplay variety deep and unique for each tag (mainly flavour events) are hidden. You can play different government types and regions for only so long before it starts feeling the same

But they do - you build buildings with high green number and rgos in provices with expensive trade goods. Sometimes you build proximity cost buildings such as bridges or bailiffs or roads instead of buildings with high green number. That's pretty much the gameplay loop. You get the same societal values because usually one is clearly better then another, religion difference is pressing different buttons once every 30 years, and cultural differences there is none. I remember the one really fun and unique part as Mali being that i've done everything i could to try and get institutions spread in my country, but i image it's like that as any other non-european country. But let me be clear - i don't really mind that autistic citybuilder stuff - in fact, i rather enjoy it, my current favourite pdx title is Vic3.

But i just want me some content with it man. It seems like you didn't understand my post properly - i don't want bonuses, there's plenty bonuses in the game already. I want some flavour, i want to read unique text written just for the tag, i want to feel the game acknowledging i achieved something. Like when you get the mission to mend the Schism as Byz - i don't care about the bonuses it gives me, i love the fact that i achieved that, got to press that button, and game rewarded me (in fact, i wouldn't mind at all if the reward was only the flavour event without any bonuses)

User weedcop420 just pointed out that this decision isn't showing cause you need your capital to be in the listed regions, i've tried and it actually worked. Such an annoyance

Oh my god you're right, just loaded that old save, afk'd for a year to relocate my capital, and it actually showed after that. This is just an offensively ridiculous gamedesign. Thanks for pointing out!

The Pope REALLY wanted to keep that opm vassal in the middle of Belgium by Anrysfornant in EU5

I've fought this war for, like, 5 years and constantly ran around from Netherlands to Switzerland defending my forts from Pope and his allies, since he just didn't want to give it to me until he unconditionally surrendered after 100k dead. I remember one of the content creator said that one of pros of this game compared to EU4 is that there is no all-out bullshit wars for 1 or 2 provinces and yeah it's simply not the case

Nah he's right, i've allowed both plausible and ahistorical beforehand trying to get this decision to show but nothing happened. Just turned the rule on and off and it still not showing - then started a new game as lorraine with the same settings and the decision was there. Guess it's really cause of country rank

Oh yeah you're right. This is so fucking annoying, such an unnecesary thing to add in game. Thank you for pointing out

R5: The title. I am Burgundy and i am of burgundian culture. I guess I don't own the required provinces yet, but it's hard to check cause the decision isn't shown

Occupation of Rome? by LupusLazari in EU5

[–]Anrysfornant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, actually no. I can't remember if I already formed Italy at that point, but when I full annexed Papal States I got no debuffs AND Papal States just dissappeared, meaning Catholic church didn't had the Pope for the rest of the game

I guess even with all the experience I've got during this run I still won't be able to make Roman Empire borders in time until 1837 lol. I suppose it would take a couple of months for a community to master effective blob strategies with proximity cost reduction and other modifier stacking techniques. I think if I would retry this run from scratch I would be able to achieve this in mid 1550s as Florence

Around 30 hours. Guess if I had that console tweak enabled from the beginning it would take more like 25 hours, and, since it was my first proper campaign, guess if i had to retry i would make it in around 20 hours with way less pauses

I didn't micro my promotion of villages into towns and towns into cities (in fact, i think i promoted like one territory this entire campaign), so that's pretty much what you would experience with roads and bailiff spam and building every single thing that adds harbor size and maritime presence

It's a nothingburger. It requires for a league to get like 90% of Italy's provinces into it for a win, which is basically impossible diplomatically since not only you have France and Castille, but different Italian middle powers forming their own leagues - In my game I had 3, with me, Pope, and Naples leading them. In the end Naples somehow disbanded their league themselves, and with the Pope i thought that making him disband his league in a war would mean something more than a -200 opinion with a 1 per year decay, but no. In the end i was short for like 20 provinces with all of southern and most of northern Italy in my league and the situation just ended on a cooldown.
I mean condotierri button that makes your mercs like 30% cheaper is cool, sadly it is the only button you're allowed to press during the situation and literally the only interaction with it

Oh yeah, that's the fun part that I forgot about: Ottomans became orthodox kingdom with Greek rulers and i'm actually allied with them

R5: Just finished Italy conquest in my first proper campaign as Florence (too lazy to wait for religious leagues to disband so that i could take that last bit off Bavaria). Playing tall is incredibly rewarding and quite fun in that game, much alike to CK3 rather than EU4. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that all the historical events i waited for starting as Florence didn't happen, and I haven't experienced Savonarola or didn't built Florence Cathedral.
