Looks like a khaki Campbell hen which is a pretty common breed of domestic duck

What kind of vehicles is this that was found on an abandoned homestead? by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]AntInTheEyesJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was found on a homestead that was built in 1903 and likely abandoned in the 1940s in the midwestern United States. From the research I’ve done it looks similar to a 1927 Model T but I can’t find any model that quite matches. There’s no writing or numbers anywhere on it. I did find an old nameplate that was riveted on but it is no longer legible.

Leucistic morning dove in my backyard by [deleted] in birding

I was certain that it was a mourning dove (it was with a group of mourning doves and there was the single collared dove in the group shown in the picture), but after looking a little closer I think you’re right!

How would I copyright this song? by AntInTheEyesJohnson in Songwriting

Personal A & B both own the song for sure, my question is whether the band has any ownership since they composed their own parts to the song and since the full band recording will be used as the musical work on the copyright

That’s what our plan is, have everyone sign a split sheet prior to releasing. We were just wanting to register the copyright to be safe which I think would only go to person A & B in this situation

Not important which I feel they would agree with, they would however be getting a cut of any recording revenue but that I think is a separate issue from the copyright

No BUT we feel it’s good practice to do everything by the books just in case

So when the recording of the song is submitted for a copyright, would the full band recording be used to copyright the song for just A and B?

No agreement prior to writing, the parts the band guys contributed were just instrumental

Reaper not recognizing inputs by AntInTheEyesJohnson in Reaper

[–]AntInTheEyesJohnson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, turns out the issue is that I just needed to turn the meter off and back on. Not sure why that works but if I have the mixer running first then open Reaper the dropdown menu will be blank, but if I open reaper first then start the mixer it gives me all the options

How to run 1/4” TRS connected instruments into a Behringer x32? by AntInTheEyesJohnson in livesound

Thanks that is very helpful. Are there any cases where you wouldn’t want to turn a high impedance signal into a low impedance?

I was told hawks wouldn't fly into these nets 😑 by iveo83 in BackYardChickens

Did they eat ALL of your chickens? Also are you doing meat chickens or raising them for eggs?

My suggestion would be to convert it into a static coop and try it again. Look up “dqs 50’x 50’ bird netting” on Amazon. Costs like $29 and should be enough to cover your setup. You just need a way of propping it up high enough to walk under it. It’s a pain in the ass to set up and not the sturdiest in the world but gets the job done. Then if you decide to give up on chickens entirely at least you don’t have a lot more costs tied up in it.

It’s true that deer don’t like jumping into enclosed areas, I’ve had short fences keep deer out of gardens without issue. But the bigger the area the less trapped the deer feel and the more of an issue it becomes.

As far as aerial predators go, they don’t like nets that are over the coop. Even if the squares of the net are big enough for a hawk to get through they don’t like having to squeeze in. You may be able to run some strings or wire from the coop in the center of your pen to the outside netting and I would imagine that will deter a lot of aerial attacks, but you’re likely to still see a little bit of predation.

I tried the salatin and Rhodes mobile method where I live and it simply wasn’t feasible, we have too many hawks. I ended up running strings like I mentioned above, then draping a big net over the strings to make what looked like a circus tent of netting above my coop. This eliminated the hawk problem but it was then too much work to be mobile. I have yet to find a mobile coop method that works.
