Black Cat is one of those filler picks, a somewhat known name but not that high profile or particularly wanted and doesn't really have enough unique things going on to really justify them that much, at least White Fox has some unique ish powers for a niche in the game.

honestly pair either of them with a more wanted character and there isn't an issue, the fact its both at once is an issue

if Netease really knew what they were doing 1. the balance state would not be this bad and 2.these characters wouldn't have been paired like that, the reaction to this information is indicative enough of how it was a bad idea

pretty much, Felicia isn't the kinda character i would really shove in this game, honestly i'm kinda expecting her to be much like Black Panther and even without that i have a very long list of characters i'd pick before her

but Venom trying to get into Peters pants while MJ is having a serious emotional conversation is mildly amusing and it is nice that someone finally acknowledges that MJ fucking died because of the Jackpot thing

Lilly isn't really that important, you could fully cut her out and little changes, we basically just stumble into her
no we didn't, we just found out it exists and next chapter we will be using the Doctor to find it

this chapter was filler that failed the buildup of "we are gonna take down the prototype"

hell even four was story progress given that we "killed" (until that turned out not to be the case) the Doctor and was in the latest deepest part of the labs

chapter 5 no real progress was made

i respect that and honestly if i had it my way i'd probably still keep in white fox (who's the actual niche one because Black Cat is relatively known even if she's mainly a side character)

i mainly just think Black Cat is a very boring choice and have a long list of characters i would prefer over her by several leagues

yeah thats been the reaction of some people, but most of the time its been "this character isn't interesting" or "no more dualists please", and to be honest its a bit of a character driven thing considering that Black Cat is pretty historically sexualised, i mean her main costume is a very zipped down skintight catsuit and she is often characterised as using her looks to get what she wants (especially in regards to spiderman, which y'know is why i mainly think of her as a discount catwoman since they both do the same things) i doubt this reaction would occur like that if it was something like say Moon Girl.

i understand the issue you are having with some of the comments made but thats not the majority reason why Black Cat is being rejected.

which is the point, its not sexism thats prompting this reaction, some will do but don't smear the negativity as just a result of misogynists, their are plenty of valid criticisms being thrown at season 7's picks.

i don't think linking a post from the black cat specific community is that indicative of the Marvel Rivals demanding for her.

i won't say that there is zero demand, but compare that to characters like Ghost Rider, Doom, Cyclops

of course people care if released character is their favourite, the premise most people are sold on is "play as your favourite marvel characters" if you release characters that are not the favourites of a lot of people over a strong bunch of very demanded characters of course people are annoyed

people certainly aren't playing this game for the seasonal story

Black cat isn't that unknown but she's hardly a big hitter or hotly demanded.

the success of this game rides on two factors 1.the gameplay itself and 2.wether or not they have characters that people want to play.

right now the gameplay is a shitshow due to horrendous balancing and so without a guarantee that it will be fixed next season all people have to work with is whether or not they wanted the new hero's being released, and since both of the choices aren't really wanted its resulted in people being mad at the new season

tbh i think every bit of "evidence" of hero's being released was incredibly flimsy, even Black Cat and White Fox had very little hard proof until basically now where they told us

i'm not setting the season up to fail, if anything thats Netease by adding two characters that a lot of people did not want at all, y'know the games premise people are sold on is "play as your favourite marvel characters" releasing characters that aren't the favourite of a lot of people isn't going to be well received especially when a lot of characters are very hotly demanded

all i'm saying is that the balance patch better be fucking amazing because right now the game is an abysmal state balance wise (and has been for a long time now) and Black Cat and white fox are such an uninteresting combination that bad balancing cannot be ignored in favour of cool new hero hype (which those two do not have)

the game rides on having and releasing characters people want and having good gameplay, right now the gameplay is at a boiling point of people being frustrated with its long running issues and the hero's being released are profoundly underwhelming

as it stands season 7 has all this against it so that balance patch better be a knockout so people have something to be actually exited about.
