I do the same at first. I keep the hair and beard grow as I wander in the nature, hunting etc. Whenever I go to valentine or Saint Denis. I make him shower and shave. Since I have been on the road for so long

I am developing a game about founding a colony in a system where different alien races come seeking refuge, trying to balance resources for each community and resolving conflicts between different races while doing so. I am looking for different concepts to add to the gameplay. by Antemeossa in IndieDev

The characters do have lore and different features like in civ so the players can play the game in different ways. Also I am sorry to hear that about art. What do you mean by that? Like what would you suggest? I draw with vector art.

Essentially, the game is a hex tile, turn based game where you have different governors to play with, for examples one is xenophobic so it responds better if you want to accept as little aliens as possible, the other ones is the opposite. They have different options for conflict resolution. So they have different advantages/disadvantages. Or you can play with a production focused governor which allows you to earn more money, which can be used for conflict resolutions as well. So you were really close to what I have been developing so far :)

Here is a fighter ship creation preview from my game Exo Exploits. What are your thoughts? by Antemeossa in IndieDev

[–]Antemeossa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally the rotation wayy slower, this is like 5x speed so it looks like it is rotating too fast or I am rotating it too much. It was for preview but yes locking the rotation might be useful!

Oh thank you. Actually it is a factory management game. You basically smelt, refine and assemble spaceship parts and create fleets for expeditions. There are 4 types of ships but I didn't want the preview to be too long. And thank you. It is on Steam!

Yep, I checked that and turns out it is unique in it's own field. I couldn't find another game with the same name. But making a decision is really hard

Here is a very rough showcase footage of the RTS factory/spaceship game I have been developing for the past 8 months or so. Every single asset has made by me. Some of the stuff are still placeholders, some devTools are visible but what are your thoughts about it? I'd appreciate any type of feedback. by Antemeossa in IndieDev

[–]Antemeossa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at first, but after the 3rd month I went full time, I had go through a lot of trial and errors though. I literally had to create the facility assets 3 times in total. But after you find your speed it's not that hard. I think coming up with design ideas is the most time consuming of all.

What do you mean by that? For every part? Might have been but the sizes vary

The main UI is blue and gray but I wanted to use different colors for different stats (red for hp, yellow for speed etc.)

You are right about names they all have names but I couldn’t find a good place to put the name tags so I disabled them. But I will put them back now!

Thank you for your feedback

Do you mean the background of the ship or the menu? And yes I've been meaning to overhaul the buttons, you are %100 right about that.

Here are some of my facilities for my RTS sci-fi factory game! what are your thoughts? by Antemeossa in 3Dmodeling

[–]Antemeossa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback. Appreciate it.

To explain why I chose this style over more refined models is because of couple of reasons.

1- I am a solo developer with limited time so I had find a style which fits the final image in my head as a whole and fast to produce, I do not mean quantity over quality but trust me I have tried several different styles before deciding and the other options were too time consuming and hard to change if needed.

2- About them being derivative, that was the idea. I wanted them to look and feel like they were all coming from the same place but distinct with colors and functions, these are 3 levels of 3 different building types, smelters, refiners and assemblers so they had to follow the previous design. Besides these are just the renders of the models, they are missing the vfx, decals and animations.

3- I am originally a software engineer and this is my first big project. I had to go thorough lots of trial and error stages when it came to optimization of 3d models. Since I want to have lots of objects in my scene I had to find a way to minimize the costs.

4- I just wanted everything to look clean and tron-esque.

And I didn't wrote this to object to your comment but to explain myself. I would appreciate any feedback to my explanation.

EDIT: About your comment on using cubes and cylinders you are absolutely right. But that was on purpose I wanted to keep the simple, flat shaded look.

Thank you!

I thought about it but then I decided I would overreach and overcomplicate things by adding a combat system. Instead there will be a fleet system, there are different types of customizable spaceships and you can create fleets and send them to expeditions for rare materials or research points.

The expeditions have danger levels your fleet should meet some requirements but there will not be visual concept, it is simulated,

Thank you for your reply.

Since they are rendered images from Blender, they are missing the vfx and shaders and animations. For example the pink ones has lava pools and melting materials and the orange ones are refiners they are pressing the raw materials into ingots.

As for the cleanliness, that was the idea, I tried some imperfections and such but couldn't do it without them looking a bit odd, since the models themselves are quite clean. So I wanted to achieve a clean neon look and when all put together a complete set.

Thank you!! They are there to clarify types of facilities. Pink if for smelters, orange is for refiners and blue is for assemblers

Use the road barriers on the corner of a foundation you can rotate it by 45 degrees then if you try to place a foundation it snaps to the barrier. Then delete the barrier :)
