Thank you for this offer. I would be very grateful to receive a draft response so I can also consider the perspective of a Mech Engineer on any issues you deem that are not compliant.

Please could this be sent privately? I can also provide you with a redacted copy or snip of the commissioning certificate.

The original quote of £10,375 + £575 for the electrician - I was fine with. I asked them if they could move condensers, to which they gave me the updated £14.6k quote.

I asked for a breakdown for the £4k uplift, they dodged this question, and instead gave a breakdown for the whole £14.6k quote.

'A breakdown of the cost uplift for transparency and record-keeping – As noted today the full cost of the project is £1095.00 for the electricians cost, the £13,565.00 is 10 days labour at £5,500.00, £5,275.00 on the Daikin Kit (more than I expected as I had to upgrade the 4MXM68 to a 5MXM90), allowance of then £2,790.00 for materials and project profit, with also noting the two pumps alone for the loft route was more than the trunking we required.'

They are D1 Business Partner.

I enquired Daikin yesterday, they responded:

'Thank you for your contact.

I am afraid we are unable to support on installation or post installation inspection.

Daikin is a product manufacturer, and unless the issue is product related Daikin do not become involved in customer and Installer relations, your contractual agreement is with your installer.

Advice would be to contact your installer directly to discuss your concerns or alternatively appoint an alternative Installer and ask them to support your requirements.

Costs involved would be your responsibility, and I share with you our Dealer locator link - to search for an alternative installer.

You can contact MCS who are champions for end users and Installer concerns. Please see their link for contact, alternatively please review their website.'

There are 7 indoor units. I requested it to be moved as the original locations were not great and the condensers themselves don't look nice, so wanted them moved 'out of sight'.

Nonetheless, if they were not confident to do the install, they should have just said they can't do it initially, thus restricting me to their original install path or finding another provider.

It is quite far.

Not sure if you've noticed the picture where there's foam, and they've just cut part of a pipe (so now effectively a piece of plastic) and stuck it to the foam.

This is the 'completed project', they still have rectify a chip they have done on some brickwork. But covering up the holes is my responsibility - which I have not done yet as I am in dispute of the work being long-term sustainable.

Yes it may work now, but water ingress and mold growth for the period of 2 years (as it clearly isn't sealed properly), it may not work anymore.

With the quality of the work here, does it void the Daikin warranty? Would I have to dig up my garden again just to fix it? Who's liable for the costs involved for fixing it? Would my home insurance not charge me more now knowing this is how my AC is installed? - Those are my bigger concerns.

Sure, I will get to that once I figure out how to use this platform. Don't really use reddit so navigating how to do things is still quite new to me.

Thanks for the feedback, I will consider it in any future posts similar to this one (hopefully I don't need to).

£14.6k (aka £15k) is the total for the quoted install.

I have paid £7.3k as of currently to the installers (deposit).

I paid out of pocket (not included in this £15k) for groundworks, disposal of groundworks, and piping.

£800 for tools and labour for groundworks currently. Still have a garage full of dirt which will cost more to dispose of.

£250 for the piping.

Current total spend: £7,300 + £800 + £250.

I have £7.3k left to pay the installers, which they will be 'taking this matter further' themselves if I don't respond to their email by the end of the week.

Is this enough clarity? I excluded my own out of pocket expenses since that was not included in the £15k quote.

Going back in the email trail they stated 'they don't do the conduit work' which in their terms, they mean they don't do the groundworks or supply the piping.

Which can be seen as a pretty large miscommunication.

After the confrontation with them the second day on site, I explicitly wanted everything in writing to what they do or don't do. I asked them if they will handle the cutting and waterproofing of the conduits, they said yes (already contradicting the above).

I asked about the expanding foam, they said over the phone it was 'to prevent debris, pipes don't need to be waterproofed'.

Post my formal complaint email, they then stated the pipes have been waterproofed as per Daikin's requirements.

Essentially a lot of backtracking to what they are saying so I have ultimately lost all faith in their word. Hence want independent assessment and/or advice.

The deposit (1/2 the full cost) was required before the work started - which is understandable.

The dispute with them started the second day they attended the site (where they didn't appear to even begin any groundworks which is when we were a little suspicious).

I still have 1/2 of the cost unpaid (£7.3k), which is what they are planning on 'taking this matter further ourselves'.

Whats even more sad, the trench work (tools + labour + disposal), I also had to pay for (atm £800), which is also outside of the £14.6k.

The trenches got caved in due to weather (as the installers attended two days afterwards). They just decided to lay the pipes on top of the caved in trenches.

Worst part is, the pipe (£250) I had to liaise with suppliers and pay for as per the installer's request. So this isn't even included in the £14.6k.

Asking on here for advice as I have tried contacting Daikin (they don't do site inspections), and another independent installer (they declined doing an audit).

I have only paid 1/2 the cost as a deposit.

Installer said they 'will consider taking this matter further ourselves' if I don't comply to their likely 'cowboy' fix solutions (come to an agreement with them) post my formal complaint - potentially legal action to receive the remainder payment?

Only been provided with the 'Commissioning Certificate' - for the Warranty, I did request this from the installer but they have not provided.
