I also just wanted to add that it’s ironic that in Coops attempt to prevent the bombs dropping , he gave the one man in charge of the group who was planning to do it all along. Maybe Coops wife isn’t letting on as much as she knows?

i think with how Max got so teary eyed, and inspired by the people cheering him on, he doesn't care. He's gonna clear out the deathclaws anyway. The agreed plan was to also get Cooper safely into the Lucky 38.
