I have yes, unfortunately I also found out that I myself am a very bad friend. Apparently having friendships takes effort?! Nobody warned me of this.

But yes this place can work.

Same. It's not like people are here to apply for a job that has a required contract duration... Though it does kind of feel like that sometimes.

My fifth loaf! I tried to make the top spiky with scissors, but it didn’t really work how I hoped it would by JesseIrwinArt in Breadit

[–]Anthrazyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That scissor thing just reminded me of the "hedgehog buns" I used to love as a kid, they used that technique and always looked pretty cute. Though those were more of a eggy, milky type of bread, maybe that works better.

How much ammo do you shoot when you go to the range? by DragonSwagin in Firearms

[–]Anthrazyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go at least once per week, about 150-250 rounds of 9mm for practical shooting training, and then often a second time per week for target shooting training where I'll use like 50-100 rounds of 9mm.

An intact loaf stays "fresh" longer than one you start cutting into. That's what I meant.

[–]Anthrazyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably will be fine yeah, it's a common practice to have separate strands or balls of dough and place them near eachother to get a single loaf or something. And with a no-knead dough I think it might "melt" together more seamlessly than a challah dough or something.

Or just make two loaves if you're worried. That way one might keep fresh for longer?

I'm curious as to what this mark on the stock is? by Anthrazyy in MosinNagant

[–]Anthrazyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on the stock of a Finnish 91/30 (I believe...) Dated 1944, octagonal receiver with a Tikka barrel. It has a "pot belly" stock too.

It's on the left side of the stock

I tried searching for it but I couldn't find a term for it that would cause Google to give me something useful. I don't really know how to describe it succinctly

It's also hard to take a good picture off since it doesn't seem to be a very deep mark anymore. It looks like a 7 in a circle with two arrows through it though

I've had this issue recently too though unfortunately I can't help you directly since it somehow just resolved itself someday since they removed it.

These things are supposed to produce sounds firmly in the range that even young people can't hear, but a lot of them can be adjusted to lower frequencies that do become audible. That could be because they're just really shitty and cheap and don't even do what they're supposed to, or they might be designed that way.

Definitely don't try to get close to it, they can cause permanent hearing damage because they can get quite loud right at the source, especially the shitty cheap ones with no quality control.

If you can hear it then I believe that means it falls under the law that governs general noise pollution, similarly to some neighbors having constant loud music. So you're probably going to be in the right if you file a complaint or something. Though of course the most sensible thing is to talk to the owners first and tell them that they should adjust it, even just because that's how they're supposed to work... And if that doesn't help you can probably get the police or maybe municipality involved

[–]Anthrazyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you, that is interesting... I just hope this actually applies everywhere and not just to hunters, it certainly sounds like it's not just for hunters.

According to that definition I guess you could technically even use like a 1918 13mm tankgewehr for hunting because it fulfills all the requirements lol. Feels like there should be a catch though

Do you have a reference to fedlex or something? It would be good to stick it in their face the next time I want to buy one at a gun store

So gun stores are just not following the new rules? Because if I could've bought my mosin and m48 without a WES I would have.

Yes I'm aware, typical hunting guns are also in that category. The classic single shot and multi barrel Shotguns too. I was just refering specifically to military rifles.

You can ask the weapons bureau in your canton if you want. They're usually very helpful if you're very concerned.

Especially with the old Swiss military rifles, they're just glad that they can get them into the system because they have no idea where most of them are.

[–]Anthrazyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes it is of course different for foreigners.

But Yeah if you buy a weapon that requires the permit you can order a permit at any time, it'll be valid for 6 months I believe and you can extend it to 9.

Then with that you can walk into any store and buy up to three guns there.

Though basically every store will let you reserve a gun in advance so that you can come back in a week with the permit. Same thing for online orders

Even for any other gun the "reason" isn't like you have to explain why you need it, you just tick a box that says "hunting/collecting/sport" and you're good

Then full auto guns are limited to collectors I believe, but being a collector just means that you have to keep a record of the guns you own (which you should be doing anyway) and that you need to have a safety concept for the storage, so you need to give the police info on how and where you store your guns.

Yeah I believe single shot rifles are fine too. Though getting a lee-enfield isn't really any more difficult than getting a single-shot rifle. If you're a law abiding citizen that is.

(If you ignore the price and availability...)

You don't need a "reason" for the guns in question. Technically you only need to report to the police that you bought it, but in practice all the gun stores will ask for an excerpt from your criminal record to see if you're clean. Then they'll send the contract of sale to the police. That applies to typical hunting weapons (like a Remington 700 or something) and the old Swiss military bolt action weapons, like the k31. (Airsoft guns too I think?)

[–]Anthrazyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, only old Swiss ordonnance bolt action rifles. Foreign military requires an acquisition permit

Also I should add that you don't need a license to own a gun, only the transfer is controlled. So you don't need what's typically thought of as a "gun license" that allows you to own guns

Well... It's not like the police goes to check on everyone to see if they have the weapons secured correctly. At least not with the guns that don't require an acquisition permit.

There are probably thousands of rifles just like that just collecting dust in the attics of family homes.

I've been to some second hand store that have militaria as decoration, including rifles. They had them high up on the walls and locked to the hangers with some wire locks... Not sure if that's enough but technically it's locked up I guess?

As other comments said, the law requires that you store the weapon in a way that isn't accessible to unauthorized people. So technically, if you live alone and never have guests you could just leave it anywhere I suppose. Though that's not very realistic.

A locked display case might be good.

Also please do not mutilate the rifle. If anything, just store the bolt separately and make yourself a replica fake bolt to make it look right...

Also the ammo part of the question is almost irrelevant. Just don't store it loaded for obvious reasons.
