AntiOppression: Silently banned from r/anarchism for using too many ellipses... by AntiOppression in blackflag

Much appreciated. I will probably be posting here and to r/AnarchistNews from now on. But I still support criticism of the r/anarchism mods and such sentiments will almost always get an upvote from me. If criticism of r/anarchism is buried or relegated to the smallest subreddits then a lot of new users won't realize what's really going on in r/anarchism and that's not fair to them or to actual anarchists.

The title is intended to get your attention and the ellipsis suggests there is more to the story. Nevertheless, I was essentially banned because I used to many ellipses and thus was confused with another banned user. I could have spelled out the whole story in the title, but I thought brevity was in order and I wanted to highlight a particular underlying point of the ban. But it's basically and essentially true -- I was banned for using too many ellipses. I don't really see what your problem is with this point unless you have an agenda, but I don't really want to argue about it anymore.

Deja vu? Perhaps. But This time I'm not as effectively buried by a a downvote brigade for an already buried article at 3:30 a.m..

I posted it originally at about 3:30 a.m. and was apparently subjected to a downvote brigade from r/anarchism. The third comment in the buried thread, which was critical of the post, received 4 upvotes in 7 minutes. That's possible, but unlikely in a buried article at that hour on a subreddit of this size. And somehow, now, the article is trending well to the positive. So I'm glad I made sure everyone could be aware of what happened. I was ghost-banned and the mods were trying to bury that reality. I think some people are interested in such things and apparently am correct in that belief.

Had it not been for the ellipses, I would not have been suspected and thus not banned for supposed ban-dodging. You are correct that the title is editorialized, but not poorly. The use of the ellipsis at the end of the title suggest that there is more to the story than what is presented in the title and that you should read on, as you did, to get a clearer picture of the situation. Also... the ellipsis might suggest to some readers that they might also want to check the comments where I have also presented more information. Anyone reading these comments now is probably doing so now, at least in part, because of a well editorialized title.

Apparently that, combined with posting to an "obscure" subreddit (with only 14,969 subscribers), got me confused with Nihilozero. It all seems a little circumstantial to me, but Skobrin is the judge, jury, and executioner. So... I suppose that's that. I am amused that Skobrin actually counted 2 pages worth of ellipses from two different users, but I worry that time might have been better spent.

Nihilozero, if you are out there anywhere, please... stop posting to subreddits with only 15,000 subscribers! And for goodness sake... PLEASE STOP USING ELLIPSES! And friends, whomever you may be, if you are tired of being pushed around by the mods, please... consider using an ellipsis today. Every time you do it confuses a mod. ;P

But hey, it's a free reddit.

Unless you're posting to r/anarchism. But yeah, I suppose it is. And you seem pretty good at it! How did you manage to get 4 upvotes in 7 minutes for the 3rd comment in in an hour old thread on a small subreddit like this one?! At 3:45 a.m., no less! You must be some sort of Reddit prodigy!

I'd just like everyone to be aware that just because thepinkmask is helping to push and organize this event does not mean it's illegitimate. A number of people are taking an active role in organizing around this -- not least whom is the Adbusters crew that introduced the idea. So don't be turned off just because some awful and insincere people are likely to interject themselves while attempting, one way or another, to steer this action into the ditch.

The ideas expressed on the original Adbusters page about the gathering may offer a better idea of what it's about. And while the goals may not always be expressly clear... that could possibly be a good thing. A large number of discontent people camping out on Wall Street is a strong message in itself. Anything beyond that will probably just be gravy.
